SB, I'd bet you could start a whole new thread on this subject and get plenty of responses.

The H2H arena's are just that. They fall under the name Free for all (FFA) and sometimes go so far as to making it almost impossible to get off the field without being vulched.
The CT arena has some beautiful maps (log into the
current combat arena)

with nowhere near the numbers you see in the MA. You are restricted to period aircraft from time to time but it's alot of fun.
The TA is a good starting point to get yer old game under control again. The hit's are turned down almost to the point a kill is tough to accomplish. In fact, there appears to be only 7 ways you can die in there.
1) Someone with 30 mm's parks on yer 6 and blasts away. As they run outa ammo you end up with something missing.
2) You auger.
3) You attack an enemy field and ack/flak gets you.
4) The same with CV's they hit ya hard.
5) You run up the tailpipe of an enemy plane and die
6) You can rip yer wings
7) Your beacon light comes on and you get udp msg
telling you its switching to tcp...crash to desktop!
PRO'S- You can duel/practice merges just like the old genie days. You get to see the flashes as you light up yer enemy like a christmas tree without his going down. That way you get some gunnery/dogfighting time in with your buddies/sqaudmates.
CON'S- Since it's a training arena for newbys there is a tendency for a few (typical 2% minority) two week (or less) wonders who break every single rule posted. I'm sure this is the result of frustration. However, an easy fix is to operate from a distant field. The Pony has a shortfall in that fuel burn is almost non-existant(again a preset model for all planes in the training arena). The pony is modeled close to the real thing (sorta). So much that we all burn off the aux tank first so as to move the CG forward to a point where the plane performs better. In the training arena you cannot do this under the current settings.
Rats!!! There I go again...gabbing away. I probably need to sell my recliner laptop.
