Well folks we (those of us not quitting) have a new FM with the newest version. This appears to have started a new series of contraversies.
First HTC, The Exernal Views of the JU-88 and Lanc III are very beautiful. Can we expect to see the rest of the planes Re-skinned to match.
Also, I don't know if it is the new High-Res or the addition of the new lights, whatever, but the cockpits seem better to me now. About the first thing I noticed.
The Ostwind.
IMHO the biggest change to AH. This Mobile Gun Platform has made JABO much more, interesting. It is a beast, monster, I don't know if I like it at all. I got hit by one ping in a JUG and it was DOWN, Down! Down!
It kills EVERYTHING, HANGARS, TANKS, PLANES, Other VEHICLES, it is a major force, and major change. A couple of these working together can cripple an airbase and rack up multiple kills with little problem. I got 6 kills with one very early on.
The Ostwind, whoa.
Now, to the FM.
For all you who say your quitting. Please just add your resignation to one of the numerous new posts. I don't need to see a new post for everyone who quits. Especially since you all are pretty much saying the same thing. It all "I don't like the new FM it is too arcadish, I quit."
Well, so long, nice knowing you, go fly whatever flight sim you choose, bye, au revoir, hasta la vista, chiao, Bon Journo, Aloha, later, etc.. etc..
I don't necessarily like the new FM either, I thought some planes retained too much E before, now I think the gentleist thing you can say is that some of them bleed E at all.
How realistic is it? I don't know, here is my suggestion, everyone donate say, $5.00 U.S. to a fund, I will take flying lessons, and get checked out in a P-51. We will get a group of AH Pilots, we can add weights to the wings to simulate the guns and weights in the fuselage to simulate the pilot armor. And I will go out and stunt it for a bit, and then I will fly AH within 1 hour of landing and will report my comparrisons. I very much like this idea. I will volunteer my time provided we can get the fund going so I can afford to provide for my Family and learn to fly. And then we find the pony. Chino has several of the planes a 109, a Zero, and Ponies. Probably have a Hog too.
Since this plan has a snowball's chance in H E double toothpicks of occuring, I say we ask those folks we know that fly for their conclusions. Are we closer or further from reality.
I know that HT won that Fighter U.S.A. competition in a Pony once, so he is the only person I am aware of who has flown a WWII Era aircraft in anything resembling a dogfight.
This current FM doesn't jog with what I read of WWII Air Combat
IMO I could be wrong, it doesn't agree with my understanding of physics, but neither did 1.03.
The first thing I need is time to adjust to this new FM, I was used to the old FM, I first have to get used to this one. I have about 10 hours on the new FM and I don't think that is enough time to make a full judgement. It certainly isn't long enough to make a relevant judgement of what is really wrong, what is a little wrong, and what is just right.
It doesn't do any good to call this AW4, Quakers High, or the Arcade FM. If you are interested in continuing to fly AH, and are like RAM and I, and don't agree that the FM is spot on, then we need to make our observations and put forth our questions and discuss changes we believe should be made.
All the folks who choose to quit can go, all the folks who choose to stay and don't like the new FM, first I say give it a chance, then lets figure out what is right and what is wrong. But most importantly right now, I think we should limit our comments, it is a change, good or bad we shouldn't make snap judgements we would regret later.
Also, think about this, Would you want to fly the same FM for 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, or do you want things kept interesting, change makes things new, not stale, we have a new sim, a different sim, it has a history, but it is a change.
