"But I also have never been in a special event due to hearing everyone complain about the role they recieved after signing up and some favortism towards certain players over newbies, But... "
It's true that some people complain about the roles they get in scenarios. However, check who it's is that's doing the complaining, and I'll think you'll draw your own conclusions.
I can also assure you absolutly no preference is shown to anyone during registration for events.
The only situation where preferences are allowed is with resåect to leadership roles. The side CO's have a free hand to pick thier squadron leaders from the list of registered entrants, and quite honestly I believe that's the way it should be.
The acid test is this: While only registered entrants have a guarenteed place in the scenario, we almost always need extra people due to no-shows, real life crisis and what ever. So by all means come along about half an hour to a quater of an hour before the frame starts and ask if there any "walk-on" places available. There's almost always a few, and that way you'll be able to see the conditions scenarios are run under, and the atmosphere they create.
I think scenarios are "it"; that's to say, they're the best experience on line flight simming has to offer, but that's just me. The only way you'll be able to tell is to come along and try it, and as a walk on you can pretty much be sure of getting a flight without being committed to turning up for the whole series.
