I was told that the batteries that are sold by walmart and other cheap retailers are the bottom rung batteries. I believe it because I have used them when they were only ones available (late at night and needed one for morning) they would last short of 2 years.  You ever wounder why they are so cheap in price it aint because of quantity.

BTW, who makes the batteries for Walmart? It might be Exide since it seems that they supply about 70% of the retail outlets (Sear's Diehard is now made from Exide.)

probably exide, but diferent retailers require different quality control standards before they will put their name on these products.  also alot of the time you aren't so much paying more for a better product, as paying for better customer service and warranty.

around here I can goto 'fred meyer' stores and I usually pay about 5% more than I would pay at wal-mart.  but returns are easier, employees are smarter, I can get in and out in less than an hour, and over-all I'm much less pissed off after shopping or returning items.

I avoid wal-mart. walmart is the devil.
