New CH Pro Pedals not working.

I have a new CH Pro pedal. Problem is they don’t want to calibrate in AH or in XP properly

When I go to the control panel/Game Controlers the CH Pro USB Pedals are listed and the status is OK. From there I click on properties and I have the CH Pro USB Properties window up with the X Axis / Y Axis and the Z Axis. When I press the pedals (not sliding) the cross hair that is in the center of the small window moves from the center to the right side and from the center to the bottom. It will not move any where to the left or to the top. Wish I could take a screen shot…. Anyway when I go to settings and calibrate in the larger white window the cross hair moves all the way up and down but it stays on the left side and across the top. The Z axis works fine, (sliding the pedals). I have calibrated in XP carefully several times, but with the same results each time.

When I am in AH it will not work. The rudder pedal only goes to one side. It seems odd that in XP the cross hair will not go to the left, but only to the right or down. Picture it moving from the center to 3 O Clock and 6 O Clock only. In AH I only have ½ a rudder pedal.

I have uninstalled, and installed. I have also “changl08” but that does not help. I have tried the JCWin, but just get an error I have to report every time I try to open that small program.

Ideas?  Bad pedals?

I just got all new CH USB stuff.  I was having fits too untill I downloaded Control Manager 2 from the CH web site.  (See my thread below)  Now all works well.

It can't hurt to try. I don't think it will help. I don't have any problems assigning keys, it seems to be a calibration issue.

I had some weird calibration issues too.  Delete the old manager first.

Oops! Too late. Maybe I will have to delete everything and start from scratch.

The CM 2.0 is nice, at first thought it was going to do the trick. Now when I go in to AH 1/2 the time it is as if I don't have a stick at all. The CH Combat and Pedals are listed but when I try to stick map nothing works. So I will exit and come back and they work for a bit then after I calibrate or try to set the buttons it will stop working again.

You may know most or all of this, but here's what helped me;

Read as much of the Controll manager stuff as you can.

Map your stuff  direct, save your file and download it to the devices.  Use the map wizzard.  Make sure you calibrate it in the CH CM, not in windows.  Test the buttons and axis in CH CM.

In AH, set the AH Axis to the device that you want it to go to, and to the Joystick axis... all 3 parts have to line up.

Look at the Long CH thread in Tech support, I bumped it to the top on Thursday, I think.  (can' recall the tittle...)

Well I have uninstalled anything CH and reinstalled it all. When I go into AH the USB Combat Stick and the USB Pedals are listed, but nothing works. In stick maping the stick does not function any buttons. Can’t calibrate anything because it does not see a stick or pedals to calibrate, yet they are listed in AH.

They calibrate just fine in XP. No problems at all in there. This look correct?


I wanted to see if this was just AH so I fired up MS Combat Flight Sim 2 and the same thing. Nothing works.

Ideas anyone?

Oh one question….for the Pro Pedals. Do all of you use the slide action of the pedals as rudder and pressing the top of the pedals as the toe breaks or the other way around?

Did you use the CH delete utility to completely unistall everything?

A lot of us don't even install Control Manager for AH.  Just let XP install the drivers and set up as Airspro explains in this thread,

Rgr wotan.  There in lies the problem. A few months ago I had Win 98se and had the analog version of the Combat Stick and Pedals. They were 3 years old and going strong. No problems at all. Then I moved up to XP. Was great, lots of networking features I enjoyed for networking newbies like me.  Problem was I could no longer use my old gear.  XP and analog does not happen. Well banana sent me his old X45 Gear, but I “really” missed having pedals.  So I finally broke down and bought some CH Pro Pedals. I had loaned a friend a USB Combat Stick which I took back and wanted to go back to all CH with the Pedals. When I tried… well you read the thread. Really tempted to go back to Win 98se.

I did not use the CH Delete Utility. I will have to and try again.

Dave the calibrate problems were taken care of when I used the CM 2.0 I have tried it with just XP installing the drivers. That did not work either. I will check out that thread you posted. Running out of options here.

That is exactly why a lot of us stayed with older versions of windows.  I prefer  Win98SE.  Some in our squad have partitioned the HD for two OS, one Win98SE and one XP.  XP has proven to be not user friendly for gamers.  I have all CH analog products, Combat Stick, ProPedals and ProThrottle.  Don't let the advertising get to you when it says Must have XP, must have USB.

If you're familiar with TechTv...Cable show on electronics and ScreenSavers....I posted a questions on both BBS (TechTv & Screen Savers) about which OS to use when I rebuild PC.  Told them What I was using now, and if XP was worth it.  

Best answers I got was depends....which wasn't a strong enough answer for me to upgrade to XP.  Still a lot of issues dealing with XP.  For instance, when XP came out it wouldn't recognize a cable modem on a USB Port etc.

I also like the ease of using speedkeys to program my stick etc.  Best advice i can give is if it ain't broke....don't fix it.  And don't believe all the multi-million dollar advertising saying  'Ya gotta have this!"....great for sales of course...but not necessarily true in many cases.

drop $40 and pick up a 40gig (Western Digital 7200rpm Best Buy after rebates this week) and put win98se on it, dual boot

Hajo your right of course.  With what I know now I would have stayed with 98.  I did check out that other thread Dave linked to. I spent about an hour reading it carefully and going through the steps Airspyro wrote up. It "is" working now.  Still not sure what is the difference with what I was trying and what he layed out, nevertheless it is working and I am happy.

Eagler, I think this summer when I am off I will try that.  I have a couple squadies that have done that and I had just read about it in PC Magazine.

I am lucky in that all my controls are USB and I haven't had any problems at all gaming with XP, in fact my AH frame rates went up when I upgraded from ME.  Unfortunately for those with analog controls, as time moves on more mobo will probably be built that are incompatible with older OS's.  I have two Nforce boxes that I had planned to run dual-boot just to play a couple older games. I run XP on both and decided  98 wasn't worth the hassle..  The Nforce chipset was designed to run the Xbox using WIN2K.  The Nforce forums are full of BSOD, erratic computer clocks, lockups, etc from folks running 98 on them.  They run rock solid on WIN2K or XP.
