Author Topic: Game-ID's ... renamable, squad oriented (Read 420 times)

Hitech .. i remember to have posted a similar issue a while ago, but i try it again in the hope to get a little feature for the game, which could "glue" a little bit the community / squad and game charakter.

We can not rename our Squad Id's without loosing the points we have. This issue must be related to a issue of database and i think, as far as i can imagine, to make games Id's renameble would mean to change a lot of code lines and a lot of work of programming for you.

Why i ask that

Recently we have many players with numer Id's which are far off being a Nick or a Label ... and sometimes it happens that players want to change squads ... or squads merge to one single squad.

Personally i think that renameble Id's, let's say to have rename slots of all 3 month, would give the game back some little personality and community charakter. And by the end, AH would benefit of a instrument for the game / community buliding.

HiTech .. i can imagine that i turn you nuts with that. But give me / us please a explication why it's not possible and i will S.I.P (Shut up In Peace)

It's not a technical issue. It more a live with the reputation you have built.

But I have been considering putting in the ability to changes names every few months.

I think the reason it comes up is because people are building their squad names into their handles.

The easier to identify each other and also on the roster the easier to see who all is online.

Moreso hopefully than people who are just changing their squadnames every once in a while just to hide.

It has put off a couple of people from joining my squad. We don't 100% require people to change but it looks pretty smart and I think HTTP like singing '99 bottles of beer on the wall' whenever he shoots more than one of us down at once

People knowing that they're able to change their handle easily without loosing perks and knowing that if things don't work out they can change back would make my squad and I guess all the others who put a common denominator there (99th ASTAG, AK's, JB's, MAW, SC) a little more attractive.

I think the idea has some merit.

Please do this, allowing it only every few months would be a good limitation.

this would be a good idea i think also ... maybe allow 2 switches per year w/o penality

the reason i think of 2 is, you have a CIPD and decide to join a squad like the DMD or JB or MAW or whatever. then you decide for whatever reason you do not want to be there. 2 also equals 1 every 6 months about.

there is an example now.... we have a player "Gscholz" who joined our squad. many of you know him. he is in norway and a bit concerned about the ability to fly with our mostly american squad. we are doing our best to be online in times best for him.

if for some reason (and we TRULY hope NOT) that he decides to be with a more eurpoean based squad.... i would hate for him to have to change identites again (after his change to JBxxxxxx) and lose all perks and rank and such.

hitech, can you add a history of changed game ids to the score pages? Maybe a full summary per player (first tour flown in, history of game id changes, finished rankings all previous tours, etc.)

Another idea...

Add the option to enter up to 3 letters as a shortcut for the squadname to the squad setup page. Then add these characters whenever the game id is shown.

Excellent .. but give the squaddie the perogative to Prefix / Postfix / None.

This would satisfy Squads like the AKs and Dmd who would choose Prefix , and squads like the MAW who would choose Postfix. "None" would satisfy those members of a squad who already have the Pre/Post fix as part of their GameId.

AKAKCurly wouldn't work and neither would 40DogMAWMAW.
