Limited lives in the CT Poll, Were you affected?
« on: January 19, 2003, 07:39:54 AM »
If you flew in the CT while the Lives per Hour limit was on, please answer these questions;

1.  Did you ever hit the limit?

2.  If so, what did you do after you hit the limit?
(and what happens/message did you get when you hit it)

3.  Did you alter your flying/playing style at all because of the imposed limit?  (if so, how)

Thanks,

eskimo

No, I didn't hit the limit.  I flew for a couple of hours, only had time for a couple of sorties.

Imho 6 lives per hour is a lot.  How long is the fuel endurance on the various planes?

Fuel in a hurricane (100%) will give over an hour and a half of flight, as far as I can remember.

I cant even remember the last time I hit 6 per hour.

Please, drop it to 4.  This will produce the wanted effect.

I hit it .. kinda wanted to see if it would work and kinda didn't fly too smart :)

I got a message saying I had hit my death limit and could not replane

 - so I logged :)

I thought it'd been more than an hour but I didnt know the exact time I logged on so I could be mistaken. Good idea - good fun.

Nope, didn't hit the limit.  Generally I don't go through that many lives in an hour even in the MA where I often fly a lot more stupidly than I do in the CT.  I feel 6 lives doesn't really have that much of an effect if you fly halfway smart.  And if you do a couple of bomber sorties (and do them properly, not low-level "kick me" runs) then they can take over an hour in their own right.

Four, as Erg suggested, sounds like it might have more of an effect.  A good sortie fighter sortie in the CT I've found genrally lasts about 15-20 minutes for me, regardless of the outcome.

I was a little confused as to definition of life, and maybe that could be clarified in the MOTD.  Wasn't sure if it was actual deaths that were counted, or rides (i.e., are bails and ditches counted against the total).

It's a great idea tho, keep playing with it.

I flew some stuka fighter missions, didn't hit the limit but also didn't get credit for any of the kills I made :(

I'll still go in there and do it for the fun tho.

i flew two bomber missions lost three plane each time. i think group bombing should only count as one kill but then again i like getting the three kills Catch 22. other than that i never met the 6 lives.

Never hit the limit.....

oh, wait...

I guess it's because the limit it's active in a time that usually I spend to sleep (GMT+1 here) ;)

Extend the time limit full time (24/24 & 7/7) !!!

:)

Any news about the gunner mode?
it's included in the lives limit?

What about Ditches, bail, capture?

Anyway, I think that Life limit it's a powerful tool for Scenarios.
Would be nice to test it at full in CT

3 lives per hour is my opinion. And it shall be always on. I think anybody cannot die 6 times in a hour in CT. Or if he can, he don't have the face to tell it here!:D

Ps. I'm very often near the limit...

Flew 3 Sorties tonight (1/21/03) during squad time. Well over an hours time.

1. no
2. N/A
3. Caused me to fly a little smarter but did not influence my engageing the enemy. Flew like I usually do.

COMMENT: Many of the newer guys to the CT are not up to the calibur as the rest of us. Might leave it at 6 LPH for them. Definately not less than 4 LPH.

Tonight I flew 3 sorties using the Ju 88 as a fighter. Managed 6 kills and 13 assists without sustaining any damage, beyond an ack hit that took out my left landing gear. I also flew several bomber sorties, killed A12's FHs three times. Again, no losses. Finally, with only two enemy players remaining. I flew two fighter sorties, shooting down everyone who came up (just 3 enemy showed up). Once again no losses.

It wasn't like I avoided risk, furballing with a Ju 88... Somedays you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug, I guess.
