Naval gunnery

Now I'm back online, I want to try my hand at naval gunnery. Can some please point me at a tutorial? Specifically, I'm missing two key aspects: rangefinding and BDA (really, seeing that the shells land on target).

to shell fields etc. it's really quite simple

1. get in the gun
2. bring up the clipboard
3.  Hit either Q or W (I forget which one exactly) this will put you in "Land Mode"
4. click on the target on the clipboard map, the gun will pivot and elevate for you, fire away.

you might need to try and click on different points on the map for best results but that's about all there is to it in a nutshell.  :)

I'll add a little to it for you.

Hit W to go to land mode, open clipboard and mouse click on target
hit Z to zoom in views, hit F8 to move view with keypad arrows,
zoom in out with []

if within 25 to 30 Miles you should be able to see flashes of hits on target
make adjustments to aim as needed.

Hit Q to release to normal movement if needed, E will enable Sea Mode that will track accross target according to ship movement

Ship guns are fun diversion when you get bored

Add this to what has been said already:

It also helps to zoom the clipboard map (only the map part, not the whole clipboard) so you can really get in and select your point with accuracy on the field.  It helps to know where the majority of targets on that field type exist also (like on the large field there is a relative tight grouping of hangers in some locations like the north side of the field).

Then fire away, making slight adjustments until you hit something and then move around the field between each salvo to spread around the damage.  If you feel you are off-target, then re-select a location on the map, and start again.

Remember, there is quite a spread possible between salvos, so one may hit, and the next may miss, both aimed at the exact same point.  I usually give 2 salvos in the same spot to see if there is anything to hit.
