Try Directron.com for some discounted monitors. They tend to have good prices on monitors and other stuff.

and try http://www.monitorsdirect.com
I just bought one from them.  Customer service so far is good. (although this Hitachi seems to have a foreign object under the screen.  Will give them a call and report on their tech people later today (they did answer an email in <24 hours).

thumbs up on their Technical Support.

here's the story:
pricewatch gave them the lowest price on a Hitachi CLM174SXW LCD screen.  I ordered, and it shipped within 24 hours.
I received the screen on the delivery date (UPS ground, no warranty beyond that given by Hitachi), and proceeded to run some diagnostics.  It had two dead subpixels (not bad), but it had the anomaly pictured below (not good).
I emailed tech support at monitorsdirect, asking whether I should deal with them or Hitachi.  3 hours later the head of tech support sent me an email, instructing me to call their tech support 800 number.
I called today at 2:15 pm CST.  All lines were busy, and I was instructed to leave a message.  Exactly one hour later, I received a call.
They're overnighting a replacement screen and a prepaid waybill for the old one.

solid.
