Here's a real brain buster for all of you. The Imperial War Musuem in Duxford, UK has it listed as a long term restoration project. AKAthena took the picture.

hmmm first impression i got was a hurri (the way the canopy is) but the front part of the canopy is a bit wrong so it may be a a6m*

is that a gunner position in the back??? if it is then i have no clue what that is...

Great job! Right with the first try. It's an A6M3 Zero. Definitely a long, LONG term restoration project in comparision to some we saw in that hanger. We highly recommend the IWM to anyone who lives in or is visiting the UK. It's located just south of Cambridge, 40 or so miles north (north east) of London.

I think all they need to "restore" a plane anymore is the data plate and a whole lotta cash.

It is an A6M that was shot down (I forget where)

I have some photos of the inside of that cockpit that I took while I visited there. I'll get them posted if I can find them. I think I also took a picture of the plaque that said where that was found.

Here's a pic of a Zeke that I saw in Palau last December. It sits in the jungle just a few yards from the edge of the old airfield on Peleliu island. I'm afraid this one may be beyond restoring.

There's no way to know for sure, but I have a feeling that this one probably got vulched when Spruance's Task Group 58 blew through the Palaus in March 1944.
