Question, DX9 and XP Home
« on: January 21, 2003, 09:00:31 AM »
Has anyone upgraded to Windows DX9 and their OS is XP Home version without SP1?

I have reformated and reinstalled XP Home after Cougar install problems after trying to upgrade Cougar drivers to 2.03 with the SP1 & SP2 patches installed, so I have left them off for now.

Before I attempt upgrading to DX9 I wanted to check and see what, if any problems have been encountered, and if there would be any benefit based on my config.

Jetway 450 MOBO with SiS 650 Chipset
P4 2.0 GHz
512 DDR
XP Home no SP1 or any other SP2 or SP3 hot patches installed
ATI Radeon 128meg 9000 Pro
SB Live
Cougar Hotas/w SIMPED pedals
Cougar driver ver. 1.04 with 1.07 firmware
SAMSUNG 900NF

Average FPS in AH is 125 with a max drop to 85 flying through burning/smoking/breaking apart B17 at 200 behind.

Should I worry about DX9?

Thanks all.............

IF IT AIN't BROKE DON'T FIX IT.
There have been some reports on DX9,
it causes some malfunctions and a patch
is due in the near future.
Again, is something in your computer
not working well?

Try it, and let us know when you try to
rid DX9 from your drive, it is a problem
to remove that version.

Talk to your flying partner, see what is

Hope this starts a info responce by others :)

Thanks S-Eagle, kind of why I asked, after the headaches trying to 'fix' my system after changing drivers for no benefit before I should know better.

It ain't broke, so no need to fix!

Hmmmm, and you're kind of a father figure to me:eek:

Now Grey-Eagle, get back on your Rocking-Pony and practice S&L flying in Knight territory, I'll be up tonight so you can then practice your parachuting skills!

Post no more in here, it started as a legit question, H-Tech will censor us:
1) because this has digressed to Off Topic Forum content and,
2) because you wouldn't teach him aerobatics!!:p
