I'm getting a problem while running Aces High. Once or twice an evening an hourglass icon will appear in the centre of the screen and while it is there I can not access any control; my joystick, viewhat, keyboard etc. just won't respond but the game continues to run. Also if I'm firing guns, they will continue to fire. After a few seconds, the hourglass icon is replaced by a windows mouse arrow icon and my controls free up. The plane will be massively out of trim unless I was in autotrim at the time. The Windows arrow icon is left in the middle of the screen (the AH mouse icon is also on screen and works normally). The extra icon disappears after a minute or so.
I've tried doing a ctrl/alt/delete and disabling all the TSRs except systray and explorer. Also tried disabling everything in the startup tab of msconfig except systray. Anyone have any ideas about what is causing this?
System is an Athlon 1.3mhz, 512mb RAM, GF3, running Windows 98SE and DX8.1B.
