Light Saber pool fight...Part Deux
« on: January 22, 2003, 11:15:05 PM »
Ok, I redid the one with Abunabi and friends jousting the pool sticks to the sound effects of Star Wars.  The middle part, I re did with Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects....I added about 6 seconds worth of a red light saber in place of Abunabi's pool stick.  It toom me a little over 2 hours, with a good chunk of that time my 1.7ghz machine churning the data (all hard drive access, and I have a fast drive).

I plan on re doing the entire flick with light sabers....but tonight I just wanted to see if I could get the glowing and blurs done well.

Here is the movie...1.3mb

Whatcha think? hehe......

Oh I will...I've learned a few lessons with the "light sabers" I'll apply if I make another film like this...

1)  Us better props.  Those sticks, overzoomed and frame by frame, are hard to find as they swing them near the pool tables.  Next time, different colored sticks/props with unique colors so I can tell which "sword" is on top.

2)  Second hard drive.  This 37 secon project has grown from a 3.9mb *huge-all-the-details* AVI to a 8.09gb Photoshop Filmstrip file.  Its an amazing process (theforce.net has some excellent tutorials)...the layering and effect making.  But its eating up drive space fast.  And the Adobe products do some interesting virtual memory stuff.  I have a 1.7ghz machine with 512mb of ram and and an ATA133 hard drive/controller.  But man, these programs are hugely hard drive intensive.  Maybe its time to slap the SCSI controller and SCSI drives in my machine!
