F1 changes.... AT LAST

no spare car!!???!!!
Engines over 2 races????!?!?!

And how is this going to help smaller teams if their crap engines cant even last half a race?

Next they'll mandate all teams have to use the same standard engines - if they want F1 technology to go backward so badly, why dont they just call it Indy car.

Basically its a vast improvement, havin traction control and lauch control really took out the skill of the driver and the excitment. Plus it will cut costs having these so teams like sauber and minardi will be able to survive.

Look how many times Minardi's launch control failed. They should be helping these teams to get these systems fixed, not scrapping the whole thing.

It needed these changes. I'd rather take up bee-keeping rather than watch F1, going by last years season.

Samiam, F1 has lost about 2-4 million viewiers in the last couple of seasons. The public don't want a few cars/drivers. They want diversity and fierce competition.

Now, the one with the most money has a huge advantage. Driver skill is maybe 20% of the equation as it stands (according to (heh) Disovery Channel documentary). I'd like to see it upped to 50%.

I'll start watching F1 again now. Fully automatic gearboxes did it for me - no need to even shift gear?

With traction control gone it'll be more like the game Grand Prix Legends - you REALLY have to be careful with the throttle on breaking and exiting a curve. And then F1 GAMES will be much more fun, too :).

Not necessarily dissagreing with you StSanta, but exploring a what if...

Agreed, the fans do want more intense competition. But I don't see much in the way of Minardi or Sauber flags waving in the stadiums. I do see an intense sea of Ferrari, BMW, and Mercedes flags, some Jaguar (ahem) and some Renault, some Honda.

So, given this fan base, why attempt to rig rules to throttle spending by those teams with the deep pockets so that the lesser teams that nobody really follows anyway can compete? Why not just unshackle those willing to spend the $$ and increase the competitiveness between those four or five teams willing to spend the money?

If the teams decide that they can no longer justify such astronomical spending, then they - and not Max Mosely or Bernie Eclestone - should reach some agreement on what type of spending limits they will adhere to.

Also, tires have had a significant impact in the differences in car performace over the past couple of years. Simply selecting a single tire manufacturer would go a long way toward leveling the field for the top runners.

One have my mates goes to some of the historic F1 races and as asked the drivers whats the hardest thing about driving them and they all said getting the power down out of a corner and getting a biting point with the clutch. wiv electronics gon This is gonna have to bring the drivers skill back it.

Seeing the old F1 cars like the six wheeled tyral realy was a sight, and sound. :D

Oh F1 isnt like nascar, if theres a crash there are marshals to tell the drivers there theres been an accident, u dont need radios to tell the drivers theres one, marshals do it for em.
