Me and the woman were taking a drive thru Death Valley, California in the middle of summer on year...(for those that have never been there.. there is a REASON why they call it Death Valley.. ).. and its a roasty 120something.. we come across the 'Badwater'.. the lowest point geographically on the North American continent.. like 300 feet below sea level..so we stop and check it out and as we have been drinking fluids like fish we have to take whizzes.. there is this little cement hut thing that is their version of a park potty.. but its so damn hot that it is essentially a brick oven cooking poo.. she ran over and opened the door, ran in and jumped back coughing and nearly puking all over the place.. 'thanks for taking point' I told my honey as I piled into the car, laughing to find another place to answer nature.

Dang, actual temps I've been in I dunno, but I've been in the following places....

Saudi Arabia and Iraq with the 101st ABN, 1990-91, DAMN hot when we first got there in August.

Ft Clayton, Panama when I was in the 5/87th INF, 1989-90, hot AND muggy, bad combo.

Ft Irwin, CA, after leaving Ft Wainwright, AK when I was in 4/9 INF. Hardest change in temp ever, except when we went to Ft Polk for JRTC in April, left AK with snow on the ground, went into 95 degree temp, with 90ish humidity, and got back to snow on the ground. I almost died, I tell you.

130-142 degrees (if memory serves correct) in Saudi Arabia in '91 during the day. Went from Ft. Wainwright, AK to Ft. Hood, TX to Saudi. Til this day, I'm still amazed that I didn't die from pneumonia. :D

Seventh Grade.  First day of football practice, ever.  In August.  100 degrees in the shade.  Full pads.  Ground was hard as granite.  High humidity.  Felt like it was 150 degrees.

I still dream about it at night.

Gimme cold weather any day.

Oh.  The 116 degree temperature in Luxor, Egypt did not feel as hot.  No humidity.

I was searching the web for hottest recorded temperature on earth..... was 136 in Libya and second was 134 in death Valley.

Here in Az, the summer is like 6 months long, but in june/july/aug
it is pretty much always in 100-110+ range.

edit: I should say in southern to middle of Arizona.

Altec, I was stationed there from June 95 to Dec 98. Best duty and the most fun I ever had. I can feel you on the changing of packs though. Those sheridans were crap. I was not a mechanic but I remember seeing you guys 4 oclock in the morning while heading out to my Air defense set and the mechanics still changing packs with a few still being towed in. You guys and the engineers had the most dufficult jobs. Im haveing lazer tag flash backs of being killed by apaches at 5k range on the race track, Bradlys chasing my beat up BRDM all over the goat trail, shooting M1A1s with my Dragon like I could kill em.

By the way they did start changing out the vismod BMP sheridans because of going through so many packs. They now have what they call an osv. its a 113 with a vismod kit and an actual bradley turret install.

100+ F and 95+ humidity in Tallahassee FL.  We've had that here in Pensacola too, but I didn't have to be out in it all day here.

tho, I think the worst was being on the astroturf in the Meadowlands in August for the 1993 Kickoff Classic wearing those damn non-breathing band uniforms.   was worth it though, FSU 42 - Kansas 0, and win #1 on the way to the national title.  :)

not sure of the actual temp.  the weather report said 106F (I've been in hotter temps)  but we where building a 30' dia stainless-steel tank (open top).  the mirror-like finish on the inside magnified the heat an unbelievable amount.

I had a small, black, 'boom-box' stereo sitting on a metal bucket in the center of the floor.  when I came back from lunch the speakers had melted off the sides and where laying on the floor.  about 1 1/2 hours later I ended up going into seizures from the heat and being taken to the hospital.

that was over 10 years ago and I still can't really function in heat over 100 anymore.
