I kind of miss TheWobble and his obligatory "ahahaha you are a moron if you buy that, Vodoo5 5500 is still the best video card EVER" post.

that explains why I often get shot down when engaging those drones.

im truly sorry Skuzzy :( i didnt mean to make it sound like that.. was typing fast @ work.

what i meant was there are two distinct camps here in AH. the ATI guys and the GrForce guys. why so loyal i guess?

like i stated about my previous problems with them, i just didnt get it.

again im truly sorry :( <> and hope i can make it up to you.

JB73..I don't get upset about stuff on this bulletin board.

With ATI and NVidia being the predominant video card suppliers, sure there are 2 camps.

Some people do get wound up and hardware.  I just like what works for me.  But recognizing the fact that some people do get tied up to a hardware vendor, sways how I make suggestions.
Someone that prefers NVidia, I recommend NVidia, someone that prefers ATI, I recommend ATI.  Hard to go wrong as both companies make quality products these days.

well TY for taking it easy on me :)

but coming from you ... if you say ATI has come around on customer service ill believe it. maybe i should look into the 9700. how much does it run about?
a good friend of mine has the Ti4600 and got it for $309 about 2 months ago. thats alot of change for a vid card.

You are right about ATI's drivers and support, they used to be absolutely terrible.  They do seem to be better now though...

The GF FX is pretty disappointing IMO.  ( I predicted as much several months ago.)  It barely outperforms the 9700 Pro in a few benchmarks.  It also consumes 70+ Watts of electricity and the fan sounds "like a vacuum." :(  If nVidia follows their usual pattern they will release new drivers in about 3 months that improve performance by about 10% though...

If I were buying a top of the line card now, I'd probably go with the 9700 Pro or wait for the next nVidia cards with NV35.

I owned a Rage128 card for years.  Ran it on flight sims while everyone else was running GF2's.  The thing that made it so hard to get rid of for me was the image quality.  I now use a GF2 32DDR card, a faster card, but with poorer image quality.
In reviewing OCP's article http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NDIx comparing ATI and GF's note the difference in brightness of foreground objects vs. those more distant.  The GF's just have a darker picture.

Makes me have to turn my monitor and color controls up for gaming and down for desktop.  With my ATI card I never touched the em.

If my GF2 crapped out today, I would buy an ATI again in a heart beat.

Lol 77db??

Thats almost dangerous to your hearing lol.

About the support: Ive never called even one support call to anywhere as stuff just worked without it.

I didn't touch ATI before, but according to reviews it's THE choice of today.

According to OSHA, 77 dB is over the legal workplace limit.  The moral of the story, leave your GeForce FX at home.  :D
