We're developing using something like a P900 / GEForce 2 as our benchmark system.  So requirements will go up, but we're not yet ready to say what the minimum will actually be.

Pyro,.. I might augment that a bit.  The video card is a GF2 Ultra.

Yeah, but you'll need to fill it up with water first to make sure it doesn't overheat.

What is a "P900"?  Is that a Pentium 3?

Pyro, I'd like to suggest an idea that kind of harks back to the days of early Warbirds.  Back then the default artwork was 640X480 but you had the option to download to download the high res (1024X768) cockpit art.  I've seen some of the high res skins players have done for Warbirds III and it gave me a thought.  I know you have to keep the amount of polys down so that frame rates are acceptable for the median machine of your player base, but how about some Hi Res art packs for those that have the higher end machines.  These would be an optional download for those who want the extra eye candy.

I know that would involve extra work for the artwork folks but I know I for one would really like AHII to have beautiful new art work to go with all the new features.

Thanks for listening
Sharky

We actually had a separate hi-res pack for AH back in the early versions, but eventually dropped support for low-res and made the hi-res the default.

With AH2, we're looking to do something similar to that but in the software.  We ship one set of high-res textures to everybody, and then step it down in the software if it exceeds the capabilities of your video card.  That's one of our options if needed.

have you thought about running on of those login surveys to find out what cpu most people are running?
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.

Oh now this is a good idea. Grab the specs of peoples machines. Now this may not be good if the average is lower than 900 but if that average is above then it may give yall some breathing room.
