Im curious I have a P3 1ghz that I was running a TNTs ultra and getting about 35-40 average fps . Then I decided to upgrade to a Gforce 3 64mb the problem is that I still get only 35-40 fps with the GF3. I have the new 12.81 drivers installed 760mb ram soundblaster live. Whats really strange is that my 3D mark scores have changed dramatically from 1400 (TNT2 Ultra) to 5365 (Gforce 3)but basically no change in AH. any Ideas? Thanks

i've got an nvidia gforce, 64meg, with a pIII 700, 386 ram: after this update/patch thingie (#5), i'm getting about 40 - 50 fps, which is up from the 30 - 40 i was getting before the update.

Something is up with yer rig.

I get 75fps running AH at 1600x1200 in 32 bit color with 4xFSAA turned on. It tops out at 75 because of my monitor refresh rate at that res. Try updating your drivers with those from the Nvidia site. The latest on their site are the 21.83s

Got AH on highest setting and I never go below 70fps now.

Do you have to delete your old drivers before you install the new 21.83s or do they just take over?

Even in smoke? I am impressed if that is the case. I wnat a new Geforce 3 to comliment my new system, and the way you are talking makes me want it now.

Propnut, I get better framerates than that with my current system. Check my signature out, and TRY THAT DRIVER. I bet it helps, it made my little MX 400 card do well ( until in the middle of smoke, then I am in the high teens. However my 3D Benchmark score was only around 2500.

Typical fr for me in the last version if AH was 70-75 fps. Even in smoke or other fr crippling situations it never dropped below 60 fps for long at worst. After the new version came out I was only getting 51-65 fps with occasional spikes up to 70 fps up high and lows as low as 45 fps or so. Since the latest patch I now hardly fall below 60 fps ever. However, the simple truth of the matter is that you can hardly see any difference once the fr is much above the 40s. The eye just isnt quite fast enough I guess. However, it does seem slightly smoother overall when its running at 65+ fps or maybe its just pscychological. Anyway its fun to brag about it and make fun of the poor saps that must make do with less just like I had to for so long!

Is the price difference between the Ti500 and Ti200 worth paying? What does the Ti500 have that the 200 doesnt?

The Ti500 has better quality RAM that allows it to be clocked higher. The extra memory bandwidth is more important than the core clock. You can typically overclock a Ti200 to near Ti500 speeds....but you can push a Ti500 even farther

If you get a Ti200, try to find one that uses 4.5ns or 4ns RAM. That'll let you squeeze probably about 510mhz out of it. The RAM on the Ti500 is 3.8ns and can be clocked very high.

But, if you want Ti500 performance for a value, find an original GF3 for a decent price and overclock it. They have identical cores and both use 3.8ns RAM. Update the drivers and the only difference is the color of the card and the stock clock speeds.

I just installed the latest detonator drivers, fps has jumped to 85 in clear skies (max), 70 in combat and 30 in smoke.

Cept now I'm getting a random crash when vertical scrolling......not a problem in game but makes it a bugger reading the BBS.

Raub: Leadtek Ti200 is built on the same mem and architecture like their gf3 TDH, 3.8ns ram, same cooling, same 2D filters (getting one of those..)

Added bonus is that the TDH is famous for its 2d quality.

Top: when you look at your framerates, make sure you have your framerate limiter set to unlimited in videomenu. If it's set to 45 or 60, even geforce3 won't give you more than 50 fps maximum.

Also check your monitor refresh rate in-game. If it's 60hz, use the nvreffix proggie to fix that.

BTW: I hope you're using W2k or XP since W98 / ME core is not able to handle memory above 256Mb so you're wasting your money buying ram in those OS's. Adding too much RAM has also often lead to stability problems with Windows98. It gets confused trying to allocate the memory I think.

With 700+ Mb RAM you _must_ upgrade to W2k or XP if you want any benefit.

Is it possible that is a Celeron PIII? It shouldn't matter all that much, but I have a GF 2 GTS 32MB and I do much better than that.

How much RAM do you have? What other optimizations have you run on your rig?

i use a g-force2 64mb tnt card and i get 40-50fps. i use 1024 by 768 res setting.

My specs are:
PIII
1000mhz
256mb ram
