Trees, Runways and Heavy Bombers:
« on: October 05, 2001, 12:40:00 PM »
Taking a fully loaded bomber off now is near impossible because of trees at the end of the runways.  Heavies can't get high enough to clear the palm trees.  In R/L the trees would have been cut down at the end of the runways.

HTC, could you consider chopping down trees at some runways?  Or lengthening runways at bomber fields?

Thanks;
eskimo

Just out of curiosity, have you tried lowering flaps 3 notches down when you are approaching the end of the runway?

It helps to get a boost over those trees in some aircraft, so maybe this could help if you don't already do this. (Most guys don't, I watched 'em taking off in 262s last night and running into trees)

how about limiting buffs to med large base and clearing the terrain round them anyway I'm glad anything that interupts the flow of "fluffers" is good    :)

<edit>
or just turn off auto-takeoff and combat trim and use a little flaps......   :rolleyes:

Lancs can barely, if ever take off from most bases now. That sucks.   :mad:
I tried to lift off while viewing from the F3 mode. My rear drag wheel clipped a friggin tree. No damage just DEATH.    :mad:
Bombers are now made of paper and string and fall apart at the slightest amount of gun fire.    :mad:
Do I sound mad. Damn friggin right I am. All I fly are bombers and now they ain't worth watermelon or my time to play the game.
I hope another patch is out real fast to correct these problems or I'm history.      :mad:

According to HT it will be fixed with next patch. All trees at 1.5 miles around tower will be cut. Not sure how much is it, but defenetly enough for clear takeoff/landing.

I don't know what everyone is so mad about. I took off a full b17 and LANC from small fields with trees at the end.

I took a fully loaded Lanc, that is with the heaviest bomb load and full fuel, off from every size field after the release. I just use flaps at varying degrees and no auto take-off...

Fully loaded lanc and 100% fuel with tree at the end of runway, even with good use of flaps doesn't work. Reduce fuel to 50% and it works great, and you never need more then 50% fuel anyway.

Trees only seem agressive if they directly encounter cockpit.

Thanks, for sharing my pain.  I haven't been flying much this weekend since these fluff'n trees are all over the place and are magically just in front of every runway, complicating taking off and landing.  As I do roll off the ground in a fighter, the re-draws to accomdate these trees grabs FPS  :(

Nice try for effect, but they absolutely suck.  I can't say enough bad things about them without being offensive.

Look forward to a fix.
