Patriotism is expressed in different ways, but what weazel does is not the opposite of patriotic. That is the point. You may be able to argue levels of patriotism, but he has done nothing to suggest that he doesn't love his Country.

All this love reminds me of an old Troggs tune.
Love is all around:

PS I support the right to hate :)
====
I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes.
Well love is all around me, and so the feeling grows.
Itīs written on the wind, itīs everywhere I go.
So if you really love me, come on and let it show.

You know I love you, I always will.
My mind's made up by the way that I feel,
thereīs no beginning, thereīll be no end
cause on my love you can depend.

I see your face before me as I lay on my bed
I kinda get to thinking, of all the things you said.
You gave your promise to me, and I gave mine to you.
I need someone beside me in everything I do.

You know I love you...........(etc)

Itīs written on the wind..........(etc)

come on and let it show
come on and let it show
come on and let it show

I didn't say he doesn't. I can only tell that he hates our leader and probably at least half our citizens. You however, suggested he might be the most patriotic one here. I still don't see it.

Perhaps weazel has a love for our Constitution and our Bill of Rights that benefits a vast majojority of our citizenry, Democrat, Republican, etc., which in turn benefits our country. I'd definitely classify weazel as an American patriot.
**********
THE FOLLOWING ARE EXAMPLES ONLY. THEY ARE NOT TO SAY OUR CURRENT ADMINISTRATION IS LIKE HITLER, STALIN, ETC.
***********
For the Germans that opposed Hitler unpatriotic?
For the Soviets that opposed Stalin unpatriotic?
For the Kampucheans that opposed the Khmer Rouge unpatriotic?
For the Americans that opposed Nixon during Watergate unpatriotic?
(I'll stop here as this list can get quite long)

One man's "traitor" is another man's "patriot."

*******

You don't like his using "chimpy" in describing our current president (personally I kinda cringe at unfavorable nicknames for our leaders), but "slick Willie" was okay for WJC? Hypocritical, no?
Don't like the points/statements he makes? Then refute them with your own facts. Sorry, but changing the arguement to petty namecalling without refuting the points/statements is kinda embarrasing. For but a small example: Did our current President go AWOL/desert his post for roughly 12 months or did he not? Did Cheney get 5 deferments to avoid going to Vietnam or did he not?
It is funny that the ones most bothered by weazel's posts and style have used a similar attacking/labeling style. Main difference is that weazel's posts/arguements DO NOT revolve around party affiliation. In my book that's an important distinction.
Men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth -- more than ruin -- more even than death.... Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habit. ... Bertrand Russell

Like I said Subaro, being opposed to something/everything does not make one patriotic. You must be for something to claim that honor. I guess this is something that some will just never understand.

Subaro does have a point - the fact that one can be opposed to a leader and not the nation - but by the same token I think he is giving too much credit to Weazel.  Weazel hasnt shown any love for his nation or its leader - hell - we dont even know what he does love, and as a result, how can he possibily dislike anything with any credibility?

I can go around saying everything is wrong with the world too - but what does that make me?  Worthless - unless I present a solution.  If Weazel feels this strongly about Bush - why isnt he writing letters addressed to "Chimpy" instead of posting on the BBS?

Lazs you should stick to topics about guns, furballing, and cars.

I also find it ironic that someone who drives a Chevy could question anyone about originality.

As for all the crying because I use the same slimey tactics that "conservatives" use against anyone who doesn't toe the party line...get over it.

I'm doing nothing different than the toad Newt Gingrich, Ann Coulter, and all the other "conservative" pundits use....kinda sucks to be on the receiving end of it doesn't it?

The "conservative" culture is characterized by corrosive partisanship, visceral hatreds, and unfathomable hypocrisy....and I enjoy rubbing your noses in it.

Get used to it.

Well, to tell you the truth Weazel, whatever the "culture" is your subscribing to, it seems to hold alot of partisanship, visceral hatreds, and unfathomable hypocrisy too.

Maybe a look in the mirror now and then might be a good idea?

And if you really are laughing out loud when you type then you are insane...I hate to have to be the one to tell you that, but you really give the impression of a lunatic sitting in front of his computer laughing like a moron at his own posts...

Man, talk about hate speach...none of what just spewed outta yer keyboard is even close to th truth. You seem to be a truly miserable person, carrying all that animosity around.

You're probably right - weazel is a nice guy compared to some of the people he mentioned.  At least you won't see him wishing terrorist attacks on his ideological opponents.
