RAM - how ya been? I remember the early beta days as you and I were learning this game. We always enjoyed watching you plow into a mess of cons and ask for help. Of course, you became a much better pilot than I will ever be (slow reflexes).

I still check the boards now and then. I just don't have the motivation to play that I oncew did. I really loved the game for about a year, then after that some kind of retarded addiction set in. I'd find myself logging on to fly when, if i was completely honest with myself, I really didn't even want to be. I'd get into big duke-it-out bulletin board battles here and on bigweek over supremely important topics like *radar!* or *who's a better dueler!* :)
A thirty something year old man with a family of five has no business arguing over such things. :)

My flight rig (minus the box which I sold to a friend) has been sitting down in the garage for several months. I passed by it the other day and thought I might get sentimental. But no, not at all. I might be back on my daughters dell which I'm using now, I dunno. we'll see.

Lately I've been real busy with work and family. actually tonight I just got back from a week long disney vacation/cruise with the family. Had a blast. Thought about aces high zero times. Glad to see rrams growing too. :) It's important to remember that games are games, and real life things are, well, real life things.

I miss my squaddies. I hate the idea of drifting apart, but I just have zero desire to play the game anymore. Maybe that will change with time.

I hear that in a dogfight you can still toggle the engine on&off in AH2

You can do that in RL, too. It's just that nobody in their right mind did.

"You can do that in RL, too. It's just that nobody in their right mind did."

Fair enough.   I'd simply add that during WWII no pilot did that on purpose during air-air combat, period.

Should things like this be permitted simply to validate some hypothetical "could have" at the cost of perverting the spirit (in this case) of WWII style combat? Engine toggling, hgeavy bombers dive bombing, hordes of no skill augerdorks causing the cesattion of of other players fun by levelling innanimate sheds...
I guess in real life bomber pilots could have dive bombed with a Lancaster or B-17.  I imagine the 56th FG could all have wiped out Axis airfidles by augering on on targets during jabo runs. I suppose the pilot of a heavy P-38 could use his ten 5" rockets for HO missile attacks against other aircraft.....

There's a lot of other "could have done that in RL too" type scenarios too.   Where to draw the line? Should the line be drawn. Can AH be a sim or should it be relegated to the arcade/game genre?

(it's feeling a bit like the old days again! ;)  )
