Hey there, I posted this last night. I live in Wausau, WI and that aint too far from the EAA in Oshkosh. The Aluminum Overcast is from the EAA (which if you havent guessed is in Oshkosh) and they tour the country in it.
Anyway my point, they flew the plane to my local airport and they were letting people walk through it, and man did I snap pics. They were also offering rides (for the 300$ price, which included membership to the EAA).
Man I couldn't believe how small it was in real life too. After watching Memphis Belle, (I know its hollywood and not real life) the B-17 always struck me as a roomy plane. To get through most of the nose of the plane required crawling on your hands and knees, and man, I can really respect the poor guys who had to sit in the ball turret for 6-8 hours a day. Needless to say it was a cool sight, and I recommend any warbird lover, if you get an opportunity to look through a B-17, DO IT!!!!!
