One expensive sortie..
« on: January 31, 2003, 10:14:17 PM »
Putting up the money for the jet, having your way with the "little" ones as you slice and dice your way through the rabble in prop planes..

One get's lucky smokes one of your engines..

Heading home with fuel critical to a base that's on the warm side..

Goodguys outnumber the badguys there 2 to 1 but never the less it's dicey.

But...you don't have a choice..

Assuming the "hunch" with smoke trailing from your right engine, your on final..

easing her down..

You have ONE shot, there isn't a go-round with one engine down when the base is warm..

The grey of the runway fills your windscreen and with it the satisfaction of putting her down..

Just then...

A Big Blue badguy C-hog from hell drops in and..

BLOWS YOUR SOGGY bellybutton OUTTA THE SKY !!!

BRAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA !!!

It's a ying-yang kinda thing..

ROFLMAO!!!   This happen today? Around 12pm CST U.S.  I had a 262 attempt an HO on my F4U-C.  I smoked one of his engines, and off he went.  I didn't get a kill message since I was busy engaging the N1K2 that the 262 was helping.

You survived a HO with a 262? Wow, what terrible gunnery :)

Poopster, awww..  but I've lost two 262s so far.  And I plan on losing more.  Time to start spending some perk points and I'm gonna enjoy their loss!  Why else have perk points??

Heh. You want a really embarrassing waste of perk points? A day or two ago, I was running a PzKpfw IV into A28 to try to help take it back from the rooks. Sitting on the ridge south of the field, I exchange fire with a Tiger on the field and smoke him and get him to bail for a kill, run my turret around to pick off the Ostwind that had come up behind me and was plinking me, then had somebody in a plane take out my left track.

So, since I'm now a pillbox, I sight down on the end of the runway near me, take a ranging shot -- 1800 yards, well out beyond con range -- and settle in to vulch. Seven kills later, what would become #10 pops up -- a 262. He rolls about ten feet down the runway as my HE shell sails in and lands just forward of his nose gear, and *BOOM* 200 perk points down the drain, without ever getting up to flying speed, or seeing the person who blew him away.

Of course, being a stationary target, I died a couple minutes later, but ten kills capped with a 262 kill in a PzKpfw IV is definitely a high point for that day.

Probably more like 100-130pp, which equals about 10-15 kills to earn them in rookland ;)

Actually, it may have been more than 200, IIRC; I think that the Rooks had a (rare) numerical advantage at that point -- the Bishops were the low population at the time, and the Rooks only had ten or so fewer people online than the Knights did.

Now this makes sense. That Schwalbe pilot wannabe was a Bishop transvestited as Rook. :D
