radar planes

You guys are more familliar than me on what types they were. I think it would be a good addition. Radar planes could be the only planes who can still display GPS radar dots when the HQ was wasted.
... or when u are deep inside eni territory, no more under your radar coverage. ... or when it's at night and the icons will eventually be reduced to 1k.

What would be your input?

I suggested something fairly similar awhile ago.  The idea I had was that when you lost main radar (when that did happen often!) then if someone upped a radar equipped plane then it would supply radar for one sector.  Another idea was about the same as yours, where only these planes would show the radar dots but relayed it back to the tower only if in enemy airspace, but relayed to all friendly aircraft when in friendly airspace (again if local dar had been destroyed).

that would be cool if the radar plane could show a 1 spuare (25 miles) radis around the radar plane.  Then when the radar is knocked out somoene can up a radar plane and try to spot the enemey.
You could also use the radar plane to find enemy CV's.

I think this would be great for AH.

I dont know what radar planes were used but im sure i could fly one once in a while.

Don't mistake WWII radar with nowadays AWACs.
In WWII the gathered data of ground radar were forwarded to Situation Rooms or Leitzentralen as the HQ in AH.
If these centers were destroyed, no more information was available.
I would say AH reflects very well the reality.

The airborne radars in WWII were crude and difficult to use.
And the last thing you got, was a picture of the situation around you.
These radars were made for hunting buffs in the night. Mostly they made a narrow, sharp cone in front of the plane.
Some US buffs had navigation radar, which gave an image of the ground below. But they were restricted to this purpose.

If you are deep inside enemy territory, you have to keep your eyes open. There is no need to change this.

I agree on reducing Icon range at night it would greatly improve the "bouncing of the enemy" or even keeping a lower profile at night.
