It seems apparent that the Formation Bomber system in Aces High is designed almost solely for the purpose of destroying the Strat System in the game.
Why do i say this?
Well the bomber model with its semi accurate nordan bombsite, and wind drift effect on the bombs,
requires that the Pay load be droped on targets that are cramped close together and ocupie a large area of terrain. That would make the prime targets for these strikes the Factories, Training camps, Depots and Cities ect. As these targets are setup perfect for Carpet Bombing.
Problem?
For this type of mission to be successful. You need lots of pilots. Say 6 or even more to fly a Formation of 3 bombers, and would be willing to go deep into NME Territory and log long periods of time in a single flight. I have taken 1 to 2 hour rides on these types of mission.
Also we need fighters that are willing to escort these missions properly. These escort planes would have to be willing to stay with their duty until the bombers returned safely to Base in freindly territory. And NOT Dive below the formation 3.000 feet or more to get a kill, Only to be killed and not return to protect the bomber Formation they are supposed to be escorting. This creates a real problem where gameplay is concerned. While the game is basically model to be Historic in nature, the mind set of the vast majority of players in the game is not. Lets face it, escorting long Strategic flights of Bomber Formations can get rather boring. Many dont understand that in real life war, Escort may never engage in dog fights. No... i would think that they were happy to get the job done and get back home to their loved ones some day in one piece.
So What i propose is some thing that has been proposed before.

And also
POINTS FOR GUNNERS, JUST FOR MAKING THE FLIGHT
Currently gunners onboard a bomber are only awarded points if they shoot down a plane.
While this seems to make sense, Its not enough encentive to keep gunners on LONG Buff Flights into NME Territory.
Just some thoughts.
