Whats good about Trinity terrain
« on: February 07, 2003, 08:38:51 PM »
There are both good and bad things being said about "Trinity" on the radio while playing online.
One negative thing IMHO is that unless you really zoom in on the clipboard map the numbers of all the fields are all jumbled together(see pic below)- making it hard to find a certain field without going to the map room. Also, there are so many fields that taking all enemy fields takes a forever.(but I don't mind that:D )
What I really like is the size of some of the towns. Holy @##@% the town at field V186 must have 80+ buildings in it! Last night I spent hours in the town rumbling around with other Knights in Tanks blowin' away enemy ground vehicles + buildings + watching friendly planes dropin' bombs. I haven't seen so much teamwork (outside of a squad) like that before.
If you want some decent AH ground vehicle fights to take part in join us in the huge town outside V186 (just North of dead center of the Trinity map).
Screenies of my experience: 1-the crowded "unzoomed?" map:o,
2-friendlies, 3-Cannon Fodder:p

Damage the same every time?

Hmmm seems like every time my Panzer was damaged I would lose my turret and pintle weapon forcing me to use my Hull gun (and it happened that way multiple times). Either the enemy tanks coincidentally kept hittin' me in the same spot or the game can only make the panzer lose these guns when damaged...hmmm.  -pic 1+2 I'm dead. -pic 3 BUH BYE "HotDogMn" wheee!:D

Marauder...

Zoom the map in until you can read the field numbers. Then use the mouse to drag it around. The entire map can be read this way :) .

Unfortunately this doesnt work for users running at higher resolutions, the small font size combined with the medium high luminecence (its not dark or light but somewhere in the nastey inbetween) makes it almost impossible to read the map as the map "clipboard picture" tends to comoflauge the field #, Alt ect.

i've got one MAJORLY HUGE complaint (or for your smart tulips out there)/whine:  the mountains are totally stooopid.  WAY to high, and WAY too many of them...and one minor complaint: after flying in the fin/rus map last week, i was spoiled on the airfield layout/grapics.  i think ALL maps/terrains should utilize that layout/graphics type in the future, and would even go as far as suggesting that current maps be revised to use them as well.

i've been talking to SEVERAL guys in both the ma and ct, and i'm getting the same type of feedback from them as well.  map layout i'm not so much concerned with...but graphics (which are nicely done on the trinity map...nice colors, textures, etc) and terrain features are critical for good gameplay.

here's and idea for making terrains:  try "realistic" ground features!  duh!!!!  sounds like a no brainer to me!
(if i wanted to play in an environment that looked like it came out of 'lord of the rings', i'd be a DND/lord of the rings nerd...not an AH dweeb!)

thanks for listening...hope someone with influence actually reads this...that is all.  :p

oh yeah...one more thing i LOVED about the fin/rus terrain as opposed to this one and all others:  trees!  the height of the trees in the fin/rus terrain were more 'realistic' as well.

that is all.   :D

I just love the rivers that end in a nice rectangular pattern...maybe they go underground to the Mole People...

PERK THE MOLE PEOPLE!
