Incursori
« on: February 11, 2003, 11:32:51 AM »
I've been reading more into the Italian equivalent of our Navy SEALs since I ran across little snippets of individuals on another
forum I visit.  I see the COMSUBIN and the San Marcos Marines
use the same interesting camo pattern in their BDU's (sort of
like US Woodland, but with additional white or gray patches and the edges are blurred not sharp).  I started to look around internet surplus shops for jackets and parkas
in this pattern but so far only turned up a couple of places
(http://www.tridentmilitary.com and http://www.worldcamo.com).  Would
any of you folks (esp. our Italian friends) know where else I can
find a surplus jacket in that pattern?

no help, just an observation.

Go to that worldcamo site, click on "Europe", and there you will find both Australia and New Zealand camo sets.

I guess geography don't matter as long as you can hide in the jungle.

I will check tomorrow at work for more infos.

BTW, it's very difficult to find something out of them.

Not far from here, bout 150 kms, there's a huge military shop (the camo paradise :) ), I will check if they have a phone :)

About the "Incursori di Marina", in short incursori, they are an elite corp, and, AFAIK, a good one too.

There's a story that one of my friends told me, he was in the Airforce security forces, the VAM (Vigilanza Aeronautica Militare), a corp that is notorious for a training similar of the Marine's one (very hard), a corp that the usual guy try to avoid.
Anyway, he was there, and was based in [censored] base.
Sometime the Incursori are used for testing the training of various forces, and use theese tests to train themself.
In short, the base commanding officer was secretely informed that the Incursori will "attack" the base in a certain time (to avoid the start of the 3rd WW ;) ).
He cheated, and warned the men of the supposed attack.
Can you imagine how all those Airmens were happy to teach a lesson to the incursori (for a strange worldwide rule Navy and Airforce are never properly friends).
My friend wore the combat camo suit, masking the helmet with plants, paint his face in black, in a perfect imitation of the best Rambo, and changed his assigned position for a better hiding place.
He had the field of fire in perfect light (there were spotlights pointed out of the field), and tought that nobody will pass without be seen.
He waited, in a perfect statue mode, liyng on the ground.
A couple of hours passed.
He was still there with an evil grin on his face, when...
*clunk clunk* two times something metallic hit his helmet, he turn the head and looked up, facing the barrel of a Beretta pointed on his face.
Behind the beretta a completely huge black shadow, with the shape of a human body was over him.
And a deep voice, with a strong Sicilian accent:

"Do you really want to play war with me?"

My friend always finish the story with this phrase:

"Man... he was beautiful !!!" :D

25 Incursori against a 600 men garrison, in full alarm...

Guess who won?

;)

mT:  Thanks, tho I already know the AUSCAM pattern and the New
Zealand DPM style.  Was looking specifically for the COMSUBIN/San Marco current pattern, but those two sites don't have much selection.

Naso:  Thanks for the reply and the neat story!  The one I heard
was of a particular Incursori with a knack for breaking knives under hard use... production knives, custom knives, whatever.  It seems he will be presented soon with a hand-made knife specially done for him with a blade 3/8" (9.25mm) thick at the spine!  Thus I am not surprised of the Incursori's abilities in war.  Thankfully we are all on the same side!

If it seems to be too difficult to find, do not worry over it.  I know
it is difficult sometimes due to laws, customs, etc. and if I cannot
acquire something from surplus I will not be deeply disappointed :)
