It's been my first week here and I have to say this is a quality product. I'm an avid gamer and just came from the MW4 online community hoping to find something that matched it's enjoyablity and strong community. AH seems to fit the spot so far. Only 1 areas where AH can be improved:
1. Try to lower the pings or get some more servers located elsewhere.
2. Advertise more. I found out about AH on a forum for Warbirds3. This game totally beats 1942, WW2online, and WB3...so why did I find out about it via a forum?

Some things you don't have to defend commercially (ads etc) they are so good.
2) the connection to servers is rock solid for most people, if not more than most, except for some bad warps now and then, which considering all the efforts and change the devs have made to the host machine/connection, is probably not to be taken lightly.

Because for some unknown reason gaming sites like top maintain the fiction that WB is the BIG MMOG for WWII sim fans despite the fact that it has a tenth the subcribers.  This has been pointed out to them, but when they post polls or do reviews it is always WBs, not AH.

I hope HTC does a big push for these sites and magazines to review AH once AH2 is released.

If e3 has flight sim presentations, as I'm sure they do, I think HTC should take AH2 there in May (or is it in April this year?), assuming they have a workable/presentable beta. It would be great advertising.

As for the connection to the servers... I almost never lag unless it's server-side (like over 520 players logged on), and generally have a ping of 40... I live in Ontario, and I don't think the servers are all that close to me.

Well I'm over in Korea and I ping anywhere from 233-390ms. SOunds kinda harsh but the netcoding is remarkably well that I barely see any lag..other than the occassional warp. I just hate pinging high when Im on a ADSL {G}.

More then 300 ??
Did u do a trace and find out what route ur ping takes ?
I think 300 is way to much even from korea.

If he was in North Korea, then he might have a few problems. Especially at shift-change for the hamster-wheel powerplant.

I am joking of course. Those pings sound a little high for anywhere.

Games like WB and AH tend to handle lag a whole lot better than your average FPS game so ping is not quite so critical as an FPS as long as you're not losing packets. Hopefully with HTC pushing out AHII in Q3 of ths year they might increase onlien awareness. The TV commercial on Discovery was a good idea but I wonder how many players it has drawn in where as their profile on  simulation web-sites does'nt seem all that high although I do post news about AH at places like SimHQ. Although there are many decent guys in the community at WB you ran into a few of the zealots on the iEN forums that just take delight in talking down AH and spouting uninformed views on the sim and the community here just glad you tried it for yourself and saw through the BS. Welcome aboard hope you enjoy it here

But he's got a point about advertisements.

 ...

Maybe HTC should hold a contest for "Best Films".. so they can collect some of the best movie-making works of the community to make one of those cool advertisement films... and reward people for it.

Great for HTC to grow and all, but this is a two edged sword - we already have too many people for the server/bandwidth some nights.  Then goon drops and what not start locking up the server (a) but oddly not vox (going to guess vox is on another server?).

Until they get the infrastructure 100% maybe better to put off going after new guys until they can be assured a troublefree first impression.

(a) Locking up as in several minute delays in bullets registering, exiting aircraft, etc - some call it "text lag".  Seems to happens when arena gets around 500 people or so.

maxtor,..vox is on the same server as the arena.  The server and bandwidth are not the issue.

There are some things we are looking at to improve, such as the goon drops, which are more likely to be a cause than the servers or bandwidth.
Next time you have a problem maxtor, please post me a trace/ping plot in the Internet forum.  I am curious about something.  Thanks.

actually the servers ARE rock solid...in peak times (where i would normally get 700+ ping) i sometimes get a 180 ping...the game runs well AT 800 ping or less and runs playable (for me gforce2 card) at 1000 ping or less!!!

as for advertising well if they advertised hundreds of people that hte community could live without would show up...we dont want that those types can stick to the cfs series. so they prefer to let people find it through WANTING to find it

Will do skuzzy, oddly though - vox always works perfectly and no delay for everyone (without exception) when nothing else is.   Something is different about vox, if you can sort out what it is I'd say you would then have a clue

(when I use word delay - I am refereing to game response delay, not ping)
