The real Finns 109 G2!
« on: February 12, 2003, 07:23:17 AM »
This is the Finns Ilmari Juutilainen's (with this G2 17 victories/total 96 victories) Bf 109 G2 MT-222 with her historical correct clothes:

* Colour is correct flat gray.
* Wings camouflage is correct.
* Letter's and number's places and sizes are correct.
* Flatten blue svastika on rear fuselace is non-flatten.
* Wing's blue svastikas are right size (75 cm).
* Fuselage's seams (joints) and little doors are correct.
* Red Cross marking is added to rear fuselage.
* Yellow gasoline triangle mark is on correct place.
* Front fuselage's (yellow area) oil cork and seams are correct.

I have edited it since the New Terrain Editor released last autumn and now it is finished!;) On the bottom is a very good colour picture from MT-222, you can compare FinRus G2 to it (only picture's blue swastika's tone is not right because of printing system).

You can meet her in action in the Finland vs Russia terrain in the Combat Theater after couple of weeks, when the Winter version of Fin-Rus is completed. The Winter Fin-Rus is under work now by me and Dux and it is becoming a BLASTER! :p

Kanttori,

remember that only a few of FAF G-2's had that camo scheme. Juutilainen's MT-222 was one of them. These few exceptions exist in the series 217-230, but I cannot remember the other numbers. This later batch of G-2's were not new planes, but they were repaired from used ones at the factory and a few of them were painted in a hurry and only got one color on the fuselage.

The usual G-2 camo scheme had 2 colors in the fuselage (LRM 74 and LRM 75), just like in the wings. Also the bottom of the fuselage is the standard LW color LRM 76.

Great looking skin, and I'm sure the winter version of the Fin-Rus terrain will be great.   to all for your time and efforts, and also the CT staff for doing great work.

However, Fin-Rus last week, Hungary this week, and Fin-Rus again in a couple of weeks?  How about mixing it up a little bit better?  I do look forward to flying the Fin-Rus Winter setup in the near future, just not too soon after 2 very similar (IMO) setups.

Respectfully submitted,

Pangea

Brady, I make historical winter camouflage to all vehicles and airplanes. G2 didn't have winter paintings, but for ex. Brewster (FM2 here) had.

I have very good camouflage pictures collected and the work is under process now. Actually I have under process Murmansk (Lapland between Germans and Russians, making it with Camo) and Okinawa, too.

They both are coming out at the end of March, I hope so. Murmansk is becoming 1:1,5 map and the landscape is very similar than in Fin-Rus, I only create couple of new Lapland tiles. And reindeers. And Santa Claus.  :D

but wasn't there a thread somwhere about how not politically correct the swastika is to some people and countries?

but of course how many people know the difference between the Finn's symbol and that nasty, evil black one the other side had?

Don't get me wrong, because I could care less either way, and I really like the historical accuracy in the games I play.

Beautiful artwork, {wishes he could draw}.  Looking forward to flying one.

However, I would girdle myself against any anticipated flames.

Grissom, I  think this is the 1000 th time when I must write this:

FINNISH BLUE SWASTIKA HAS NEVER BEEN NAZI SYMBOL!

SOME HISTORICAL BACKGROUND FROM CONTINUATION WAR BETWEEN FINLAND AND RUSSIA 1941 - 1944:
* In Northern Finland (called Lapland), Norway and Estonia there were Germans, because Finland and Germany were allied in 1941 - 1944.

* Finnish politics was never nazi politics like in Germany during those days. Finland fought against Russia and that was the only reason to ally with Germany.

* The blue svastika sign on Finnish planes is an old symbol from Swedish Count VonRosen, who presented the first aeroplane to Finnish Air Forces (FAF) in 1918. As you can see, that was many years earlier than nazis affected in Germany. Nowadays FAF signs are blue/white circles.

Read your history books at first!;)

cannot take the shouting....  I never said it was the Nazi one, and I know the difference between the two.

"..Beautiful artwork, {wishes he could draw}. Looking forward to flying one..."

I'm just saying others out there are not as discriminating, or knowledgeable as you and I are.  Those are the guys you need to keep an eye on.  Not me. ;)

shoots the interpreter  If Jimmy Carter can, why can't I?

Kweassa, great looking winter-camo! Is that historical or from your Kweassa-head?;)

If it's historical, I'm very very interested!:p

Ya that would be nice huh:)

I love snow maps, they are great espichaly if their are some clouds roing through hear and their,Those new thin cloud front 10Bears used give the same vishual effect as a solid overcast yet have no decernable impact on frame rate, be nice Kantori if you added a couple of thise to the map.

Kantori are you doing winter skins for the VVS and Finn/German planes?

How long till the map is ready Kantorie? Cant wait to try it out:)

what VVS means, or like myself only had a partial idea, I offer the following..

Definition: V V S  (Voyenno-Vozdushne Sily)  I can enunciate it, but wouldn't dare try to right it phonetically

The Yanks call it: : Army Air Forces :D
