Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

Picture this:

Only one guy in the entire town is really prepared for the day the mountain blows. Lets call him.... Rapsnout... just a hypothetical name.

Rapsnout smuggly watches the news of rumblings from the mountain feeling much like the ant instead of the grasshopper, while his poorly prepared neighbors sweat out the impending disaster.

Finally it blows. Paraclastic flows cover the region. Dust blocks out the Sun. Power is out and the grocery store is demolished.

And one house-sized rock is thrown skyward....

Jagr's very reasonable post in AGW:

Quote
Bio Chem Agents are very sensitive to the environment in general (with some excecptions) Most things do poorly in cold/wind due to dispersal and dilution combined with a high decay rate.

Rule of thumb is get indoors, upwind, shut off vents and furnaces (they bring IN lots of exterior air) and isolate airflow until you can get information on what is necessary (evacuation etc.)

Keep vehicles tanks full, and keep your supplies in bags (backpacks work very well) so if you need to evacuate, you can throw everything in a vehicle and move out ASAP.

Is it insane to be worried about this stuff.. not at all at this point.. in fact if we DO NOT suffer a bio/chem/toxic/radiological attack somewhere in the world I would be shocked.. Its that serious..

The Brits recovered residue from a ricin lab..not the product.. where did it go? Heathrow was expecting an attack yesterday on good intel.. MANPADS are everywhere and our large level of commerce makes keeping even large devices out almost impossible..

At some point it will happen, and with a little bit of preparation, it can be a relatively minor incident.

Have always had:

Ammo, lots and lots of ammo.
Good dog
duct tape, good for lots of things
more ammo
lots of food
keep track of the local mule deer herd (food source, that would be hard to tamper with)
lots of first aid and advanced life support stuff (I'm a medic, wifes an RN)

Only thing I'm worried about is how am I going to play AH if the power is out for weeks on end?

That would be tragic if they attacked the salad bars.

Learned about this in a weapons of mass destruction class put on by an FBI special agent.  Happend in a town called The Dalles, Or.  Neat little town right on the Wa border (Columbia River).  Great coffe shop right on the river, good breakfast, anyway it was the first recorded incident of domestic terrorism involving a biological agent.  Something like 30-40 people got sick, a few (2 kids I think)  died.
