vox problem

I can play all day and have no problems with vox communications.   In the evening, i'm in the est time zone, when the MA gets real full i'm unable to hear anyone.  Apparently transmitting just fine according to squaddies.  Any suggestions to correct this problem?

I'm having a similar problem. Vox will work and then not work. Someone will be talking and then cut out half way throough.

I contacted tech support. They suggest looking for my audio chip drivers from my mb makers. Since its a HP I went to their web site. Found what appears to be a new driver, installed and no change.

Have had the same problem last couple of months. Seems a bit better here lately until there's over 500+ in the MA then it usually goes within an hour.

A friend will come and hook his computer to my cable modem and we will play at the same time. He will get the VOX and I will not. So its a computer related thing.

Turning down sound hardware acceleration in DirectX helps.
run dxdiag, sound page, move slider left one notch.

Definitely needs this if you have on-board sound chip.

Works for me.  Just a suggestion. :)

I'm trying that now. My computer emulates a sound card but has no hardware buffers.

I have the choice between a SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio and Intel 82801 BA/BAM AC'97 Audio Controller drivers.

The SoundMax is what was on before and even with the acceleration turned all the way down I would loose VOX so I will try the Intel drivers.

Sounds good but no bueno. Did that when I started playing back in April. This happens to alot of folks and our entire squad at times. We run different computers and cards. 4 different sound cards and 4 different OSs that I know of and it still happens to us all. Usually worse when more people in the arena, happens in all the arenas. :(

Use the AC97 drivers, obtain an update for them - if they are the AC97 codec Windows update should automatically advise you of a later driver if you visit the Windows update site and offer to install if it finds yours are not the latest.

Mine is a realtek AC97 chip, and with latest updated drivers DirectX in dxdiagnostics (run dxdiag from the run box) does not whinge about not having hardware buffers and passes all sound tests, with the old drivers it gave an error on the sound with the hardware buffers test, though it passed the others.

Hmm, sound and vox always work on mine whether there's a crowd or not, although it can slow response somewhat if net traffic is high. The only time I have lost sound is when UDP is lost, but then I usually lose the connection anyway soon after.  :(

My firewall is set to process both UDP and TCP for AH, UDP connection seems necessary for vox to work well in AH.

Yep, our squad started loosing vox about the same time when the free trialers came to the MA.  We've never had that problem before and it only occurs when there's 550+ people on the server.

It also happened to us many times during Niemen frame 3, which was really a drag. We had to refuel really often so we could relog and get vox back.

Definately a server congestion issue.

I installed $30 CompUSA sound card on my Windows 2K box. DIdnt get much better results. I then installed Windows XP. Played for several hours Sat night and Vox (both ways) worked without a hitch.
