As stated by Pyro, the new "capture model" is there to make it "harder" for poeple to capture a field.

I gather that the new maproom is situated in the adjacent Village, about 2-3 miles away from the field & it's Vehicle Hangar.

As it is now (Am not sure all the elements of theis system is up & working yet). Doesnt it make field captures EASIER than it was before ? I mean, it will now take you a couple of minutes (as the Defender) to drive to YOUR Map room instead of being able to defend it immediately.

I don't understand HOW it makes field captures harder.

If there's still an item involved that hasn't been activated yet, forget my silly question  :)

I don't know what they're thinking. It IS easier to capture a field. You drop three acks, ignore the main field, drop your troops, then circle the main field just outside of ack range so that any 'milkrun' goon killers will die in their own ack trying to get you.

<sarcasm on>Makes perfect sense to me! As soon as I leave the runway the entire field gets pissed off and shoots at me instead of goon. Traitors!

Hangars? Leave 'em up! The more the merrier! Killin' guys from a goon is good perks, you know?<ende>

Surely, there is some part of strategy that is missing, or perhaps there is something yet to be added? I can't imagine what, but I am hoping we'll get an answer soon.

Maybe I'm missing something, though. During one attempt at capture last night the ack respawned WAY too quickly. There might be something to the resupply that I don't understand, as yet.

well, there's no way 1 person could do it alone, that's for sure-- i was bombing/strafing a city in mossie, just to get a handle on it, and augered..  i flew directly there from a close field, to continue, and everything had rebuilt.  those resupply trains/convoys sure do a good job.

i didn't see any country pushing other countries around the map last night.  even when the knights had 2x the rooks or bish, there was no mass landgrabbin goin on.

we may just have to let things settle down a bit, but from the looks of it, its not easier.

I think the field capture we have now is better than the old one since now the carbombing and last minute spawn banzai fighters to strafe goons routine is gone.

It is much easier to capture fields now though, but you folks have to bear in mind that goons have to parachute the troops, as landing between the trees is very hazardous.

I SUGGEST the current system would be better if:

Towns affected the rebuild time of the base they are next to (just as cities affect global rebuild time). Cities would affect the rebuild time of the towns.

Put a VH and a map room inside the town.

Make towns twice as big (town size would increase depending on size of airfield).

Put a map room on the opposite side of the airfield (opposite to where the town is that is). Protect that map room with .50 cal acks and 2 mannable 37mm's. Put the Airfield VH be INSIDE the airfield, on the opposite side of where the town is. That way it will protect the airfield map room.

This way, the enemy will have to capture a field AND the town. If they capture the town then the enemy field its next to WONT rebuild unless its resupplied by players in goons or m3's. If the enemy captures the field but you still hold the town, you will be able to prevent that field from rebuilding as long as you hold the town, AND your VH inside the town will allow your side to counterattack using GV's. This, by the way, introduces the much lacking ground war into AH.

Kill 3 acks in town, grab a goon, or better yet an M3, drive to town, kickem out!! take field without ever engaging the base.

Tell me does that seem harder than before?  I think not

maybe have a "radio call" go out

"HOST: Town at a47 under attack"

and have a siren go off at the field.

but still with the vh so far away you would need folks to up a fighter quick and actually pay attention to the text buffer.

Have the call and siren qued to when ack starts firing

This would atleast alert us to a possible sneak grab attempt.

just a thought.................

<Edit>

changed "city" to "town"
