Anyone see the Blix report at the UN yet?

Thoughts?

It sounded like they are making progress, but there were 3 items that stuck out.

The movement of Med. Range missles beyond the limits of the UN resolution.

The importation of 35 SA-2 rockets in violation of UN

The rebuilding of a rocket casing casting factory, that was destroyed by UN inspectors last time around.

I'm still on the fence, but I'm getting the feeling Saddam is building up to strike Israel with these missles loaded with NBC's.

Can we wait around and see if this is the case, or do we have enough to go in?

Personally, I rather see a peaceful resolution, but not at the cost of the securitiy of America and her Allies.

making progress?

Blix blew alot a smoke over needing more time but ultimately he said that Iraq hasnt fully complied with the UN resolution.

France will cling to the "need more time" and the US will cling to "has yet to comply".

The current situation will not change. The US in all likelyhood will go to war.

EDIT

the issue over the 2 iraqi missiles are a clear violation of previous agreements.

I am suffering from "Sh*t or get off the pot" syndrome.

If we're going to do this, let's get on with it.

I still hold to my "Lets get UN approval before we go in" just so we don't have to listen to the whining, squeaking sniveling "World" why we pummel Iraq again.

If he strikes Isreal all bets are off. They will not be restrained this time by Bush and they will launch 1 or more of their 200+ nukes. Then Katey Bar the Door.

Report was pretty much 'status quo'. Iraq have drip fed information that should have been declared earlier.

IMHO, US should pull out, make France sign a document making it legally responsible for Iraq's Compliance. Should Iraq in the next 10 years violate any UN resolutions France should bare costs of enforcement, and should Iraq in the next 10 years use those weapons then those diplomats from France should face a War Crimes Tribunal.

The French actually admitted on the BBC this morning that pressure from the US the only reason Iraq has responded in any way.

The amusing thing is Blix said this new missile is clearly in violation, and should be destroyed, to which Iraq flicked him the 'finger'.

Bush has a gun to Saddam's head.

Even if Iraq complies with everything, do we bring home 100k+ soldiers?

Can anyone think of a peaceful and acceptable solution to this thing? Other than assassinating Saddam?

Sure.

Saddam steps down, we install an oversight government, dissolve iraq, reconstitute kurdish, toejame and sunni states in it's place and we go home.

Or, we blow the toejam outta saddam and his military and do the same thing anyway.
The price of Freedom is the willingness to do sudden battle, anywhere, any time and with utter recklessness...

...at home, or abroad.

I like the wry humor of acquiescing to the French & Russian requests for more time by announcing that we're withdrawing all troops from the area and standing down the Northern and Southern no-fly zones.

Then let's see how much progress the UN Inspectors make.  :D

Any bets on Iraqi compliance?
