Dingy, whels1 and other p51...
« on: February 21, 2001, 03:16:00 AM »
Ehm, we had sort of a heated exchange of words just as the world turned horribly laggy. Sort of accused each other of lag and I believe there were some misunderstandings.

If you say we lagged to you, I believe you. the odd thing was that Nath was stable to me. P51' did lag though

Mentioned that I was gonna post the film, so here goes.

Hope this sort of smooths it out between us  .

I wonder if this could have happened around about 6:30 PT last night. Things got very strange. I got disco'd twice in quick suscession, and couln't get logged back on quickly, the host kept timing out. When I did, there was tremendous lag in changing fields and other game commands. A lot of my squad (who where on RW) were having the same problems.

The last time it happened, I said the hell with it and retired for the night. I tried to get to the AH site, (here) and couldn't get it to load. I'm kinda surprized there's no mention of it from HTC this morning.

The last time I was able to log on, there were only 45 people on, compared to 159 when I started so I know it happened to quite a few others.

around 8.30pm EST last night it went to hell in a handbasket.
All the kites in the area looked nice and stable, but all kinds of unGodly readio lag.
Then host connection lost and after spending 15-20min trying to get back in I said 'ta hell with it' and went to bed

I spent the 20 minutes I had trying to get into the arena. Yup, the host was having trouble last night.

I logged in about 9PM, saw there were right over 160 in the arena.......
Ten minutes later, I got discoed, went to log back in, there were less than 110.........was there a big dump at that time?
I said to hell with it after I logged in, logged back out and did not get online again til 2AM........seems that once we get over 140-150 in the arena, we get a lot of lag probs.........just my opinon though.

Yep bad night last night. I got booted twice to come back the third time to 44 people in the MA. I just bagged it for the night. Even when I got back on the third time the lag was BAD. Hope it's all fixed. The world of computers, no problems.

A whole half hour of reading "you warped" "no it was you" on channel one.  Ten people must have been hurling the accusations back and forth.

I was laughing pretty fricking hard.  Especially after I typed a message and got a 15 second message lag.

Its always everyone elses fault and they're always doing it on purpose.  ...at least that's the way it seems everyone views the MA these days.

8:55PM EST AH froze on me.  Was fine before that.

I could not get back in the game, when clicking my account info, the game just froze (I didn't wait long enough for it to time out).

I ran pingplotter to HTC and was amazed to find out 85% PL, Ave Pings 2200ms...basically something went sour around Chicago with sprint.  I could not even get back on until 10:15pm EST and then it was too slow to play.  I kept pingplotter running for over an hour and it just did not get better.  Best response was 750ms and that was only occasionally.

Glad to see it was not just me because I was ready to slay my cable company.

Oh yea, even though I could not pull up the web pages to HTC either....my bottleneck was clearly Chicago according to pingplotter; don't want to sound like I am blaming HTC.

I had the same type of problems when I first got on last night too.  It was around 8:40 central US time or so.  The lag was horrible so I actually went and downloaded Pingplotter....I have never used this program before.  Anyway, I ran a trace and it was showing 82% in the PL column.  I asked on channel 1 what that meant and somebody...think it was Apache....told me that meant I had 82% packet loss.  Not good at all I told myself.  It slowly settled down and the PL# began dropping.  It finally disappeared just before 9:00 pm central time and I was able to fly with no problems.  The only problem that I did note was that I cant run a traceroute to the alt.hitechcreations.com site...the beta site is fine though with an average ping of about 27 or so.

At approximately 10:00pm CST, our Savvis connection bounced for reasons we have not been able to ascertain.
The bounces were not out local connection to Savvis, but appeared to be one hop up from us.
This may be related to the problems above.net is/was having.
