I have been flying off and on in AH for the past six months or so (I have logged many years in other WWII sims **cough**EA Sux)
and tonight was one of my crowning achievments to date in flight sims.
Started the night right by landing some kills on a CV for the first time ever (it's HARD, and I tend to fly LW rides) in an F6F which turns out to be a great plane. It's pretty good at most things so your never really out of position.
Anyway we (knits) were hitting the Bish down south at A72. I had just killed VH w/ my eggs, and saw some B26's up the field. I had a ton of E so I high yo yo'd towards the base and lined up the B26's for a side shot. Well....they were waiting for me and the guns tore me up fairly well. I over shot the formation and did an immelman, and my engine was shot out on the way up. I finish the loop, finish off the remaining buff, and found myself with no engine, 500' off the deck, about 3-4k out from nme base. I decide to land at the enemy base, glide it to shore, drop gear, and found that two of the gear are damaged. Not surprising, MOST my plane was damaged (durn buff gunner) As I start touching the runway, the B26's take off again and are rumbling down the runway towards me. I found that you bounce alot with only one gear, but I actually got it pretty much on the ground, with the (ping, ping) of the b26's gunners hitting me. Knowing they are about to kill me and I am slow, I pull the stick hard down and right and attempt to just FORCE the plane down, and the big F6F does a FLIP, end over end, and lands stopped on one of the small dirt roads leading from a hanger. I pull up clipboard, end flight successfully, and couldn't believe what I had just done.
That WAS GREAT!
Gotta go fly some more.
Just wanted to share
