Maybe their way is the right way.
« on: February 16, 2003, 06:20:54 PM »
You know seeing all those protesters on the news today got me thinking.

I was a believer in doing what is right regardless of what some others may think. I mean if you are right and working for the greater good then perhaps you should follow your heart, even if some will fight you for doing so. I used to believe that the protestors were a mix of the mislead and uninformed combined with the stupid gullible and those with secret agendas.

But then I thought what if we did it their way? The protesters I mean.

Perhaps it is only by using discussion, criticism and reasoning that we can really foster correct ideas, overcome wrong ideas and really settle issues.

If we lived by those words then we really would be able to create a paradise on earth. Right?

In a perfect world, yes..I would agree with you.

Unfortunately Sadaam Hussein is a madman who thinks nothing of killing anyone who gets in his way.  Criticism?  Ask yourself what happened to Hussein's son-in-law.  Remember him?  He was the guy who defected to Jordan with his wife.  They returned to Iraq after being convinced that they would be unharmed and welcomed home.  A helicopter whisked him away moments after his return.  Not surprisingly he has never been seen or heard from again.

It is a well documented fact that Sadaam has personally executed political opposition.

Sorry, but it ain't going to work with this guy...ever.

We have, for 12 years we have.

There comes a time where diplomats must step aside and allow the solider to do his job. I do not think we are there yet, but we are close.

Dump Isreal and most, if not all, of our problems on the world stage will go away.

I would not for a moment, give my life or the life of any american for isreal.  Leave that part of the world.  Its a trash heap.  Support the pursuit of new energy for consumption.  Leave the oil to the arabs.  Lets move on before the whole world is torn apart by those religious morons.

The problem with the protesters is that when you listen to GWB and Powel telling the world that there is a threat to world peace and Saddam has to go, it is easy for them to make all kinds of nice slogans and equate war with killing babies etc.

However they can wax eloquent on the utopian path to solve the worlds problems.

What would your rather have your leader say?

It is only by using discussion, criticism and reasoning that we can really foster correct ideas, overcome wrong ideas and really settle issues.

or

We must choose between a world of fear and a world of progress. We cannot stand by and do nothing while dangers gather. We must stand up for our security, and for the permanent rights and the hopes of mankind. By heritage and by choice, the United States of America will make that stand.

Don't tell him Habu, make him judge you by the content of your posts rather than the terrain beneath your feet.
