New Video Card Suggestions
« on: February 17, 2003, 12:44:05 AM »
Need a little advice (Is there such thing as a "little" advice on a bulletin board?).
I'm running an AMD Athlon XP 1600+, 256 MB RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce2 MX200 32MB AGP video card. A year or so ago, my frame rates were enviable, but evidently changes in the game, etc. have somewhat lowered my FR especially in the vicinity of smoke. I've turned off anti-aliasing, mip-mapping etc. run 16 bit color and 1024x768.
I'm thinking of upgrading my video card and would like some suggestions. Bear in mind that I'm NOT going to spend $150+ on a video card. I'd like something reasonably priced that'll give me decent frames.
I've toyed with the idea of DL-ing the 41.xx drivers for my card, but the general consensus seems to be that would be a bad idea.
  hanks in advance guys.
If you approach from me from my 12:00 you will be unapologetically HO'ed.

Radeon 9500Pro (130$-160$) or Gf4Ti4200 (110$-130$).
If I'd have to pick one I'd take Radeon 9500pro.

You can get a Ti4600 128 mg card for less than 150 now...the leadtek was on sale for like $139 here in PHX a couple weeks ago.
