XP Pro question
« on: February 17, 2003, 10:45:08 AM »
I got a question...

I just got my new puter:

2400AMD
A7N8X
512 DDR
Gigabyte Maya II 9700pro 128
Windows XP Pro Sp1

Question is: How come when I minimize AH (say while climbing to altitude) to  check email, do work etc my system is really slow? I think its probably a setting, but I am an XP newbie and have no clue, so any help would be welcome.  BTW never had this problem with my old system (too old to even post appropriate data, but it was running (Windows 98). I dont knw if this matters but when running te yask manager whilst AH is running my processor is at 100% usage, is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Anxiously awaiting wisdom,

Ken "jEEZY"

It's perfectly normal for the eXtremely Porked OS if you catch my drift. ;)

It sounds like your AH is running at a priority above normal level, have you installed any tweaking software? If the priority is set above normal, it's guaranteed that you'll notice slowdowns when tabbing out of the game.

I haven't played using XP much, but I think it's not normal even for XP to freeze up on alt-tab unless you've tweaked the priorities.

Thanks for the heads up, but I haven't changed or tweaked anything.  Is there a way to change the priorities?

AH has always been this way, with any MS OS...

Doesn't do that with my W2k though..

I can't notice any difference if AH is running on the background or not.

Edit: On smaller applications such as e-mail, IE etc. If I start another game or start rendering graphics, I do notice the difference ;)
