For Users of the new CH Pro Throttle USB...
« on: February 18, 2003, 08:14:34 AM »
What do you guys use that tiny little "joystick" on the throttle for?  To me, it seems like it's a total wasted function for sims.  More suited to the twich-first person shooters or something like that.  Nothing aviation related that I can see.  Frankly I really miss the old hat switch that was there and is now to the left where my old brake button was.

So any thoughts on what it can be used for and does anyone find it really useful to them?

You can program it to be a "switch" as well as a pot.  I use it to set auto pilot functions.

Good question. I just figured AH didn't see it. I messed with it some when I setup the throttle and couldn't get it to do anything. Gave up and never thought much about it since. Skurj do you have it setup for trim? If so could you explain how you did it?

If you get the CH control manager you can make it into the mouse it's supposed to be or button or whatever.  I use it as a mouse.  OBTW the control manager allows you to set up all 3 modes for the stick.  Lots of buttons :)

I've never been able to set it to do anything, so it does nothing.  It used to get in the way, but now I'm good at ignoring it.

I use it to control the mouse.
I used to use it for pan views, but it's kind of redundant with my hat.  If you set it up for views and it's too spikey, just turn the sensitivity way down and the deadbands up a bit, and it will get better.

What it's really good for is modern flight sims where you control a cursor on an MFD or you can slew a sensor around.
