I recently read a little about the late war variant with the 75mm high velocity anti-tank gun mounted underneath the cockpit. Although only 25 or so were ever made for use on the Eastern Front, I think this would make a really neat addition for use against heavily armored GVs and god knows what else. Say what you will about our version of the IL2, but as of yet, we have only the Hurricane as far as dedicated GV killers and as everyone knows, taking a tiger or even a panzer in one of those is iffy at best.

In AH prety much any plane with Hispanos is a tank killer, even 50call's can toast tanks, I remember one night in the MA a few months ago I got chalenged by a squadie, who made me feal guilty for wacking Osty's and Panzers left and right in My Huricane IIC, saying it was to easy(well it was:) ), and I grabed a A6M2 and proceaded to kill a half dozen Osty's with it, well took out their turet and they die spawned, got to outright with bombs though.

The moral to this yarn is that in AH almost every plane is a GV killer, while I would realy like to the HS 129, I cant imagine it seeing a lot of use since their are a number of planes taht can do it faster better and be much more surivable.

Brady how about some training in killing gv's. When I drive um a single 303 round can kill me. When I am shooting at them I can empty clip after clip after clip into them from 303's to 40mm and I am lucky if they smoke. Cept m3 m16 and m8 Thoes I can kill with 50cal somewhat easly. How ever put a ostie panzer or tiger out there forget about it. I have seen 100's of hits right in the middle of the open ostie turret with 20mm firing down into it not from a low angle. Nothing the turret just keeps plugging away. What is your secret??

I only strafe Panzer IV's from the high 6, I aim for the engine deck and try and land my hits at less than D500 and pull out before i hit. If I have a Yak9t or Hispanos I will 6em some times from low and close firing into the rear. all u nead to do is smoke the engine or turet, it has been my experance that after this occures you will get the kill on them as they spawn out,if they dont spawn out and hange out you have done so much damage that nomater what anyne else does to them you will most likely get the kill, some times they will even blow up from an outright kill. This can be done with 50cal's although it apears harder to do now that they have fixed the armor leak around the turet.
Strafing the tracks can disable the tank, but this will not get you a kill a quickly, you ammo is better spent on the engine deck.
Osty turets can be taken out by any airborn gun, I prefer a near 90degree drop on to the osty, when i was using the A6M2 to do it I simply waited till the osty was looking the other way then dove directly down on him and put a 1 sec burst of 20mm into the turet top, it would kill the gun he would die spawn, i got the kill. any weapon can do this from my experance, 50KG bombs(or 100pounders) work to you just nead to be accurate.

The 23mm cannon on the Il-2 is probably the best anti GV gun, the the Hispano, then the 37mm yak canon.

Tigers nead bombs, one 500 pounder is enough, prety much have to hit them though.

Their is no real secerat, just get close and dont miss, minamise the angale of atack as much as possable

I have seen Brady rack up gv kills so much so that I actually tried to shame him into stopping :)

The HS 129 is under powered, a dog and slow. It wont be used at all.  Brady is correct that theres very little need for specialized anti-gv aircraft since almost every other plane can do it better faster and the actually fight there way out. Planes like these while "cool" get almost no usage. While I wouldnt say "no" to any new plane no matte what it is I can think of many other planes that are more "needed" and will have more usage then the Hs 129.
