Right now there are many threads discussing France and their antics.

Just for some perspective, France's entire current economic output is only about the size of California's.

I believe because of Californias economic problems Frances Economy is slightly larger than Californias right now.

Define please.

I don't dispute it. California has a higher GDP than lots of countries.

per Capita GDP is certainly lower since the population of France is 25,000,000 more than California, and their overall GDPs are comparable.

The lists I've read all put USA at the top, and the ones that look at california put it 7th or 8th behind france and italy.

Not really surprising though, considering the high value nature of the work that goes on there (aerospace, software, silicon valley etc).

Yes and France is loseing ground to almost everyone else on the list.

In a couple of years they might be a big as Puerto Rico's economy at that rate. :D

By this did you mean France has 57,000,000 people or that France has 25mil people and that is more than Cali?  

At the last census Cali had 32mil people.  I have no Idea how many people are in France, was just wondering.

60 million people in France.  

Bounder provided an interesting link.  Going by GPD France and California are just about tied for the size of their economies.  Going by that PPP index India has a larger economy than any european country.
