Hip father lands in hospital after attempted love muffin stunt at son's birthday
DURANGO, COLORADO -- A local man was admitted to Faith United Hospital Saturday afternoon with severe head trauma as a result of a bicycling accident at his son's fifteenth birthday party. The man, identified as Ralph Wilkinson, was apparently trying to prove his hipness to party goers by attempting a love muffin stunt.
"Dude, all I remember was Mr. Wilkinson yelling, 'look at me boys, I'm Johnny Knoxville!", said Timothy Rae, a guest at the party. "Next thing I know, he's catching some wicked air before taking the worst face digger I've ever seen. I mean, it was a yard sale. Bike frame over here, helmet over there, front tire over there, and Mr. Wilkinson sort of spread out in between."
Johnny Knoxville is the creator of MTV's "love muffin", a reality show that features Knoxville and other performers attempting dangerous feats such as jumping off buildings and skateboard surfing behind moving cars. The show has been criticised as influencing kids into performing similar stunts in which they can harm themselves. Spokesmen for television watchdog groups have said that this is the first documented case of an adult harming themselves as a result of influence from the show.
Doctors at Faith United Hospital expect Wilkinson to make a complete recovery. In a statement released by the hospital, they stated that, "... in spite of his numerous injuries, including severe brain damage, we don't foresee Mr. Wilkinson being any more of a moron than he was before the accident."
