Hopefully we will be able to select what type of ammunition we want loaded in our planes for each sortie. For example the Browning M2 .50 mg used on most American fighters had several types of ammunition it could use including HE, HEI, and AP. Would be nice to also have HEAT rnds available for tanks ;)

Also....Napalm....would be very cool to see a Tiger burning fiercely after a Napalm attack on it :D  or......an nme city burning to the ground after a Napalm strike :D :D

Napalm sticks to little kids, doo da, doo da....Napalm sticks to little kids oh doo da day....

I don't recall M2 .50s having HEI or HE available. There isn't a lot of warhead space on those babies.

The most common round is the API, which we supposedly have already in AH.

Now it would be nice if HTC modeled the 'I' part of the API, so a few well-placed rounds would start fires in other A/C.

That'd require a totally different 'fire modelling' than we have, but it realy would be a cool feature :) Currently, I think only heavy damage sustained at the fuel tank areas create large fires which does not go off.. Maybe some API rounds can hit and start small local fires which might burn up hydraulic fluids and then go off soon with a fizzle..

Saw a belt of .50 ammo a former B-17 gunner had (also had a Browning M2 .50 in his garage :D ), the belt of ammo wasn't very long but it contained sample rnds of AP, API, HE, HEI, Ball and several other types I can't recall atm.

Sounds like an old South Park episode where the kids went hunting.

dunno never asked ;) although I did get to fondle the M2 :p He said he got the MG out of the nose turret on a B-17 that was so shot up it would never fly again. Some officer told him he could take whatever he wanted as a souvenir......so he grabbed a .50 cal...my kinda guy :D :D

He had loads of pictures also, one was of a ball turret that looked like swiss cheese, I asked about the poor slob manning that turret, I guess he walked away w/o a scratch.......
