convergence is set for 250, strive for that distance. Sometimes though the heat of the moment dictates that i shoot at longer distances--never over twice convergence.

I open up at around 350 and rarely shoot beyond that, other than MG's to get lucky pings on runners.

But usually get kills under 300, 350 is sort of a longshot. Of course, with the guns on the 109, that's the limiting factor. I gather that had I had .50's or Hispanos, I'd open up before and still be comfortable about getting hits.

Ahhhh the qualifier for this one should be:

"Given all the time in the world to set up your shot; what range whould you open fire at??"

In the above scenario; 250 yards MAXIMUM. I'll often wait till I'm even closer... why waste the ammo.

Unfortunatly in the MA 'all the time in the world' is not always a requiste.. in fact more often than not the opposite is true.. and in that case I'll take what I can get.  If a tracking solution presents itself at d500; I'll open up. I prefer to wait for a nice big fat planform shot, and will often 'pepper' the guy with a few pings at d500 to get him turning.. then he's meat fer sure.

Convergence: 250/275/300, overlapped. (6 .50's)

because my niki have few amo, rarely above 300y. When I'm in eni's 6 slightly above because he is turning, around 300y.

If the guy is rolling all over trying to run, i wait till 150-50y.

My best score is 3 fighters with 40 rounds, but need to be real close.
Dat jugs bro.

I've never been lucky enough to get behind someone

Actually I look for 300 and a pancake shot like Hang suggests.  It is much easier to take a wing when it is presented to you at a 90 degree angle

Convergence is 300/300/300

If I'm closing on a bandits low six, and sense that he doesn't know I'm there, I will close to 200 - 300yds before squeezing the trigger.

I like seeing 95% of my ammo lighting up the target and then the quick, big, kaboom.

Dude wakes up in the tower with the 'ol "WTF?!?!"

Gotta love it.

I really like opening up at 250-300 but will shoot up to 450-500 if it looks promising.

300 On all planes except the HogC

If I use the HogC I fire at around 800 and regularly get kills with it.  I dislike the planes cannons, it's no secret I feel it's the worst thing about AH.  I hope they are truly fixed when the next version is released.

30 feet??? Jez i ramm cons more than i can shoot em at that range   i'm gunna fit 'bull bars' to the front of my stang and 38 then i can ram as much as i want

I'll shoot at anything under 400. Or like hang says ill take a 500 snapshot just to break his concentration if nothing else, or peppering shots at greater than 500-800 to get them to turn.

My convergence are defaults (might have a play later with this).

I take a planform at practically any sub-900 distance. If nothing else it will scare the snot out of them, at best it will knock something off and slow them down. A punctured glycol line is a kill in 3 minutes.

Anywhere from 750 to 50 yards depending on ammo load, enemy numbers, plane types, how close am I to home, how many bandits do I think might show up, how good I'm shooting that night, what I ate for breakfast, etc.
