Maybe we could just have a new forum for "Tired discussions of the same old toejam".

Hear hear!!!

I'd rather see a 300 post thread on Iraq, than 30 with ten posts each.

Leslie is gay!  ...and I agree with Animal.  Nothing against political/religious-type threads, it's just that there's so many of them that they merit their own forum.  The fact that there's easily a page and a half worth of posts in the Oclub now every day says enough for me.

What Gay SOB said. I can't keep up, which sucks when you're really ripping someone good and making brilliant points and suddenly your post warps three pages back. Oh well, weather's getting nicer which cuts into my computer time and I'm having more fun on the PETA boards discussing chickens.

I'll still check in here, just not as much. Maybe only once an hour- or even less.

I dont understand what the difficulty here is in starting more "my cat took a crap that looks like Jesse Jackson - PICS!!!" posts if thats what youre into.

If you dont want to read political posts, dont read political posts.  Its really that simple.

No need to exile a topic you dont find interesting to another board - just mentally "squelch" it.

You dont seem to get it.
No posts will be censored, no political topics banned.

All that we are saying is that there are so many political/etc threads that they merit their own forum.

But what happens if someone hijacks a thread in the "fun with dirt"-forum and turns it into a political discussion? It might hurt the feelings of those not wanting to read political stuff.

Can you please moderate the new forum to make sure that no thread is ever hijacked again?

I hardly visit the O'Club at all now and if I do spend seconds there where once I used to hang around and read. This is for the same reasons I no longer read the AGW Off topic forum. Too many idiots who believe their particular choice of politics is the right one and everyone else must be stupid to think otherwise and get called names and derided for having an opinion opposite to theirs. There is a nastier side to AGW with a small number of posters posting up racist comments, using current affairs to forward their own grubby xenophobic feelings and for a time I was worried that this would happen in the AH forums.

My own politcal views are personal, I will discuss politics if someonewants a proper conversation but I feel that the forums are allowing people to post offensive messages to deride anothers political view whilst hiding behidn their monitor, it's not debate and cowardly as these posters would not often dare to be so outspoken in a RL situation. It's this kind of posting that splits a community.

This is a moot point, you put it as if hijacking threads was an acceptable behaviour in the first place.

It should never happen in any forum.
You are an adult, you are supposed to understand the concept of maturity...

And I dont see how your "fun at dirt" jab is funny. Threads about aviation, for example, wich were the most common around here are not as trivial as "dirt" since its the same thing we all share and is arguably a subject more worth discussing, since at least it leads somewhere: learning.

IMO what is silly is you and your constant need to shove your beliefs up anyones throat, even if it means hijacking threads NOT about those subjects. The attitude you show towards this idea of mine is you being defensive because you feel that your routine of silly propaganda is threatned, when in fact, its not.

No one will be losing anything.

And again, hijacking should never happen, it only shows that you are so desperate and insecure about your beliefs that you HAVE to cry them out all the time even if it means interrupting a discussion about something totally unrelated.

Animal's Idea is pretty good.  I don't see how the O'Club would be hurt by creating a sub-category or two.  The patriots vs anti-chimp debate alone could support it's own forum.

So I take it personal attacks will be tolerated in the new forum though?

Bad idea.

Ever heard of the phrase "Divide and conquer"?

The whole thing stinks of minority scensorship!

Screw em.

The choice is yours:
Be a whimp like wulfie or just be a man and take the crap.
Any other scenario is pro chimp!

Seeing what you choose to reply to, I can safely assume you have no good argument to latch on against the original topic.

LOL I can see these discussions are really important for your daily routine.
