Breaks his ties with the Dodgers.

:(

I knew both Sandy and his wife Anne when I lived on the Central Coast of California. He is one of the nicest people I have ever met. Used to volunteer a lot of time to Special Olympics on the local level (no media).

Sandy Koufax is gay. At least that was the rumor, and the reason he's pissed at the Dodgers is an article in the NY Post implied Koufax insisted he not be questioned on his sexuality by a writer as a condition for an interview. Since Rupert Murdoch owns both the Post and the Dodgers, Koufax blamed him.

Like I said, I knew Sandy AND his wife. If he is gay, he married a beautiful woman for no damn good reason. :)

I heard the story too.

They must have mistaken the "unknown Major leaguer".  Has to be Juan Marichal.

LOL I grew up with that rivalry. Now the players switch teams so much and the teams switch cities so much the new generation of fans doesn't get to enjoy the unmitigated hate teams, and their fans, had for each other. Remember Marichal hitting Roseboro with the bat?

It's not even that anymore.  It's just a way for agents to make more money for themselves and ruin the game for the fans.  One agent in particular.  Scott Boras.  He's the worst thing that's ever happened to baseball, and all the players are buying into his Gordon Gecko "Greed is good" philosophy.  I refuse to watch MLB now.  I'll watch MLS this summer, where the minimum salary is just a bit more than I make, not 10 times more.

It was difficult, but I eventually learned to hate even Willie Mays for being a Gia... Gian... Pissant!!

Yes, I loved to hate Marichal too. SOB loved to beat the Dodgers.

That bat incident would rock the world today. LOL, back then boys were just boys.

BTW, Sandy smoked like a chimney! He told me that he would sneak down the tunnel a ways between innings to have a smoke.  Hehe... athletes are different now.

Nifty why do you blame the agents for the idiocy of the owners?  The owners are big boys.  They are all billionaire businessmen.  They should be able to handle themselves in negotiations.  If they can't, they don't deserve to own a team.  Players and owners are small fishies compared to the real fat cats.
