I dont think it should be possible for a C47 or M3 to drop supplies from the field it rolls from. Or maybe an addition of a new type of supply bunker that bombers or fighters can hit would help some of the problems people have with the new strat system.
I saw some ideas about supplies not insta-fixing things, which seems to be a good idea. Maybe for each box of supplies dropped, between 5%-10% is taken off rebuild time. Can supplies be shot down or strafed before they can be effective?
I haven't exactly figured out how trains and convoys work, but I think it'd be incredibly cool if they were not AI controlled. You'd haveta drive em yourself and man whatever defense they had on your own, like a bomber. Even cooler would be bridges and stuff to destroy instead of the gigantic slopes that roads and rails seem to have. Imagine canyon fighting while low enough to fly under bridges?

(this kinda change would prolly come in 1.09 though, since it's most likely a lot of programming and artwork)
In my viewpoint it seems that HTC is trying to make an immersive flight sim which can be enjoyed by all. The strategic elements of that are very important because it adds so much. Personally I'm having a ball doing NOE mossie or P47 raids against convoys and trains. It just feels so realistic for some reason.
I look at each update postively because in the end htc is trying to make this as much fun for the crowd. I wouldn't bet money that they want to dissatisfy the people who have grown up on AW, WB, etc. The trick is making the game fun for the old-timers as well as for the new guys not used to this kind of flight sim. Before I joined the Assassins I didn't find this game anywhere near as much fun, simply because I was always on my own and without regular wingmen. Squads are so incredibly important to this game, it's too bad that there isn't a way for people to automatically be in one when first joining just to see the difference.
At this point I'm rambling so I'll stop. Any ideas on my ideas?
