Now I know these are pretty much loaded questions.  Everyone has their favorite ride and their own opinions, but I'm curious as to whhich birds do what in AH.  Can someone point me to a web site with some good performance data and gunnery data for the various birds in AH?  Hoof used to have some nice WB's perfomance pages years ago.  Is there anything similar in AH?

I like to know what I'm up against in the air but I see so many planes that are new to me, that I'm unsure of the best tactics to use, so I end up just guessing based on limited knowledge.  It would be really nice to at least have some idea of best tactics before I eject.

Lordy this thread could go 1000 replies. Your best bet is to go in the "Aircraft & Vehicles" forum and do a search for each plane you are interested in. There's been many threads on "how to" per specific plane. You'll find alot. There's been some good threads on the LW plane set.

I'd say the A6M2 Zero

probably the FW-190A-8 / F-8

Depends on what you mean by punch.  Typhoon or Hurricane 2C probably have the best overall weapon packages.  The 30mm-armed 109's have great 1-ping kill capability but it's tough to hit with it.  The FW-190A-8 can carry TWO of the 30mm guns, but again it's tough to hit with and badly affects its performance.

...packs the least punch in AH?

Again this is somewhat subjective, but I'd rate the fighter with the worst overall armament as the MC 202.  The likes of the Spit 1, Hurricane 1, 109E and A6M2 aren't far behind though.

...BnZ's the best in AH?

This is highly subjective, but I'd rate the best strict BnZ fighters as the FW-190D-9, P-47D-30, Typhoon, or FW-190A-8 (with 4 x 20mm)

I assume you're talking fighters and not the GVs.

a) FM-2.  Second choice - Zero.  Third choice - Spitfire/N1K2 (tie)

b) FW190A8

c) Me110.  Second choice - FW190A8.  Third Choice - P-47D with 8 .50cals, Typhoon, Hurricane IIc (tie).

d) P-40B.  Second choice - Spitfire Mk 1, Hurricane Mk 1, C.202.

e) P-51D.  Second Choice: LA-7  Third Choice: FW190D9 and Bf-190G2, G6, and G10 (tie)

If you want a killing machine that can go straight in, bag a bunch of HO kills, and get out, take the FW190A8 with four .20mm and a pair of 17s.  It'll kill everything in its path.  Don't plan on dogfighting because you won't be able to turn.  Just go straight in, shoot at whatever is in your windscreen, and if they turn away just keep going in the direction you were heading.  Its good for clearing out a furball.

I have to disagree. Yesterday I took of at a lone undefended field with a small red bar. I headed to town and shot one or two of the troops a goon just had dropped. While doing so I saw a couple of LA7s strafing the town...
