The Corsair of the New Millennium

(Don't flame me, I know this is an Army ride...)

With all the non-combat related deaths the Blackhawk is involved in, I wonder if it's earned the reputation of the Ensign Eliminator, 2003 Version.

Like the Corsair, it's a superior aircraft given its role, but is the flight envelope and margin of error so small, like the Hog, that the penalty for error needs to be this severe? 4 more guys died today in an exercise.

Gainsie

Any thoughts

compare?

The good old Uh-1?

I do not think the comparison is all that good. I thought the blackhawk was like a caddy and easy to fly?

Besides the Corsair got a bad rep from the very early models, by the time the F4u-1A, was with the Marines, and Navy it was a fine aircraft, and I would say only marginally more dangerous to its pilot then the Hellcat or Mustang.

The Blackhawk is the most widely used huey in the US arsenal.. The Army,Navy,Coast Guard, and AirForce both use different versions..

Its the only reasion you see it so often.... Also theirs not much room for error..as aposed to fixed wing a/c

Huey is a helicopter made by Bell.

Blackhawk is a helicopter made by Sikorsky.

All helicopters are not hueys.

If you going to quote the name of the uh-1 then do it right. :)

UH-1 Iroquoise  by Bell Helicopter

Huey is not the official name of this helicopter.

The last Blackhawk will be sling loaded to the scrap yard by a Huey.

If I can't call it a Huey, I guess I can't call a Thunderbolt II a Warthog.  Shucks, I guess I'll just have to be wrong.

The F4U and the Blackhawk combined aren't as dangerous as that damn Tilt-rotar thingie the Pentagon won't kill.

Half-helo, half-plane.  And people wonder why they keep falling from the sky.  I only wish it didn't take 15 Marines with it every time.  :(
