D-Day
« on: February 25, 2003, 02:43:55 PM »
I think that somehow there should be an accurate reinactment of D-Day, in a first person shooter game that is online with thousands of player. Thousands!!  130,000+ allied forces landed in France!  If you could get that many people in one game that would be awsome.  Imagine the chaos, the moter shells falling to the ground like rain.  Some poeple would have to drive the boats, fire the ship guns, fly planes and so forth.  I've played Medal of Honnor before and the D-day level in theat sucked.  There was simpely not enough people.  In the reincatment i would like to see, all the people are controlled by people and if you die thats just to bad.  Either that or there is half as many people and you get 2 lives to for accuracy, you only should have one life.  Im sure there has been reinactments of D-Day online but not at this scale.:D

The problem with an Omaha [I'm assuming you mean that landing] game is that it would be too one sided, and therefore not much fun too play if you're an allied soldier.
This is one of the reasons the DOD map of omaha can be so frustrating for an allied assaulter,  the lack of gameplay.

It would be about as fun as a "Pearl Harbor" game

It would just like DoD omaha map, a bunch snipers pickin each off at range. Allies laying on the shingle and Axis hiding in the bunkers.

I am with steve a "Stalingrad FPS" that would be fun.

Battlefield 1942 has a decent omaha beach map, if you set-up the bots right it can be rather fun.

Omaha Beach, boring? Onesided? Not this year. We will have 4 landing craft, 60 players,  hitting the beach simultaneously, the beach will be covered in smoke from 2 smoke generators. Explosions in the water all around the landing craft, also on the side of the hill going up to the Atlantic Wall. New weapon this year, flamethrower for taking out those pesky bunkers.
No, the allies will still have it tough, but the germans have to resupply, and the allies will also be landing tanks on the beach for support. It will be way cool.  Not to mention grenades, and bazookas! We are going to have 3000+ player this year no doubt. Check out the website, there is a carpool forum, so if you just can't get here, post where you live and you might find a ride.

D-Day to me means "50 X C47's in the air to an enemy airbase in AH" :D
